  • Another entry, and this time it's a port of a more modern game. It's Internetless by Manu128k!

  • Ooh, crikey, said Lawnmower Deth. 41%? That's practically up there with Doom and Minecraft. I'm going to have to raise my game, here!

...he said, junking his entire afternoon's work - although, maybe, I can save it for a separate crap game just so the rest of you can tear out what little remains of your hair at your age.
  • You can now play all of the entries in your browser, via the Qaop/JS emulator! Just click the "play online" link on an entry's review page to try it without downloading.

  • Fame at last, eh lads?
Might be worth a visit to luny.co.uk.
  • Hey! Great news! Just before midnight on 5th April, I've managed to complete the gigantic crap game I've been working on since 29th March, and I don't mean the one that PROSM is about to post (whereby, see above, I didn't junk an entire afternoon's work).

At least, the game itself is complete, in that it can start at "Tape Loader" and get all the way through to its ending. There just isn't an end sequence yet... and that'll take a few more days.

After huge amounts of testing, I can tell you it will tick a fair few "crap" boxes, and one of those is "does it run at the speed of Jabba The Hutt on Mogadon?" And, in some parts, yes, it does. It seemed to be OK when all the modules were yet to be assembled, but once they were all MERGEd it's as if there's a white hole causing relative time dilation in an amazingly compressed space.

  • Aaaargh! Just 3% less and I'd have been winning! Maybe I shouldn't have added that ending, or misplaced a few of those DRAW statements... but it'd have driven me up the wall to look at it.

Glad you had... er... "fun" getting to the end of it. One thing I didn't test properly was the ability to get through to the end screen without being a massive cheat, because I'm truly terrible at these sliding jigsaws, so at least now I know it works the way it should (...or... shouldn't?)

More crap fun coming soon! And not just for the Spectrum, either...
  • A new entry, this time from Gareth Pitchford, called Mirror Mirror! I think he might have entered the wrong competition, as this game certainly isn't crap!

Review and download available from the usual place.

"I'm Donald J. Trump, and I approve this message. Make the Zee-X Spectrum Great Again!"

Anyone who can have a tenth as much fun playing this game as I did writing and programming it (even the really frustrating bits that didn't work first, second, third, fourth or fifth time round), you're doing well. You have been warned about the crap bits already!

Now... it looks like I may have eight months to plan how I'm going to host CSSCGC21, at this rate...

Not to worry, because I have ideas. And, now, I have something else to do.

  • Is it possible to submit a crap game for Sinclair's Z88 machine? Would it be allowed in the rules?

I'll make an allowance for other Sinclair machines.

  • You know, it's been so long since I submitted this one, I'd actually forgotten that it was an internet-less afternoon that spawned it! It's worth downloading for the mad backstory at least.

In retrospect, I should have called it "Super blackpenredpen when he was three years old Simulator" or similar. So... cool. Isn't it?
  • We've reviewed another entry, and this time it's from CSSCGC veteran, Paul Collins (AKA Equinox Tetrachloride), who sends us Playing A Casino Game With A Spinning Counter (or alternatively, PACGWASC).

  • Hello all,

My computer's hard disk failed this morning, and as a consequence, I have lost most of my files. I have been making backup copies of the CSSCGC data on a flash-drive, so nothing pertaining to the competition has been destroyed. However, I will have to re-install my software and also try to recover what I can of the rest of my stuff, so if you've sent me an email recently, please bear with me for the next few days, as I won't be able to answer it straight away.

    Regards,
    John

  • Brilliant stuff. That has knocked us 24%-ers of the top of the list. Time to blow the dust on my BASIC and try again I think.

  • Our beloved “Uncle Clive” will become an octogenarian on the 30th of July, so in celebration, why not write a crap game about him?

To participate, send your Clive Sinclair-related entry to our email address, marking it as belonging to “Challenge No. 4”. You have until the 20th of August to submit your game. Good luck!
