  • Wow! That's an awesome achievement and looks better than the original!
I've never thought that before about an originally Spectrum game...
  • Yeah - looks nice alright.

  • Its is a very good port. They should be proud as it doesn't even look too brown. ;)
    Sod it!

  • This really shows how much more versatile the "earthy" colours of the c64 are than the bright ones of the Spectrum. They could easily have used as many colours in the original game (except the multicoloured sprites ofcourse) but it just wouldn't have looked good.
  • This is very nice indeed. I am impressed with the combination of C64 high res mode, with multi-coloured sprites. I knew something like that was probably possible on the C64 by overlaying sprites, but never seen it done so nicely. Kind of puts the C64 ahead of the Amstrad CPC which could only manage this resolution in 4 colours.
  • And it is released:

Hope we did enough justice to the original but still bring something new and fresh not the game... There is something very special in it for the Ultimate lovers....
  • The c64 version has some additional side-missions... to get you started you need the safari jacket, hat and the whip to enter a very special room in the attic that is not in the spectrum version, from then on you will get more clues how to proceed...
  • I like the use of darker colours lower down on the items on the wall - shame the Speccy original didn't do that as well.
  • Why can't it? I think it was just case on not thinking up the idea at the time. The C64 version, as far as I can tell is using colours in per character on the background, same as the spectrum.

Anyway, I've got into it since there are some new things to find. Thoroughly enjoying it. My only problem is the colours on the keys are too subtle. I'm a little colour blind and find it hard to tell between some keys.. they seem to have too much white on them.
    Sod it!

  • Funny thing, I kept playing and thinking "this is a bit harder", until I changed the emulator to use keys "QWERT" instead of a joystick. :) Funny thing 'muscle-memory'.

  • If this had been released back in the day, it would've put paid to any 'the Spectrum is better than the Commodore' reasons I had.
  • <Gasp> How can you say such a thing. :)
    Sod it!

  • Nice touch how thunder and lightning lights up the windows now and then.

For those that would like to know what the new side mission is and how it ties into the other Ultimate adventures that follow it:

  • I was guessing it involves Sabre Wolf, but I want to get there myself so I'm saving the surprise. (Must.. not... press... play...)

    Resist! :)
