Yes you can play Speecy games on Series 60 Nokia phones. I have Nokia 6600 and it plays Spectrian, but there is one catch. The screen of the phone is too small so the picture gets a little shrinked. But it's not too bad and it is still cool to play Spectrum games on your phone while you are waiting for dentist or something like that :D

    thanks.

I have a Nokia 6600 phone with the Spectrian emulator. It plays speccy games pretty well. Of course the screen is small - it is a mobile after all!. But the detail is there. One thing to note about the 6600: the screen is the opposite ratio to a normal telly, ie it's on it's side, so speccy games look slightly stretched.

Now, this doesn't bother me at all. The other Symbian Series 60 speccy emulator, ZXBoy, has an option to rotate the screen 90 degrees, to give the correct aspect ratio. But this makes the viewable screen even smaller, and it isn't worth it in my opinion.

Also, ZXBoy does not support 128k sound, which Spectrian does, and pretty well.

In my experience, rotating the screen 90 degrees on ZXBoy still gives a full-screen picture - the picture doesn't shrink and is the correct aspect ratio (i.e. TV sized, 4:3) :)

Can I play Spectrum Games on the Samsung phone? (Samsung D500)

I've put up some pics of my Nokia 6600, running the Spectrian emulator. Even though the phone is small, the screen is big enough to just make speccy games-playing acceptable. You can also see how the screen layout is opposite to that of a telly, making the games look slightly 'stretched'.

One thing I didn't mention before is that the 6600 'joystick' does not have diagonal control, which can be a pain for games such as Underwurlde. For stuff such as Head Over Heels, Knight Lore, JSW, etc, it's fine.

The only Symbian Series 60 phone with diagonal joystick control is the Nokia N-Gage IIRC.

I'm using Spectrian with Nokia N-Gage and it runs great! Games are really playable and the real diagonal controller is a treat. I had a Nokia 3660 and Spectrian but the lack of the real controller was a downer. But with the N-Gage the games are really fun to play. I have a Speccy in my pocket... ;)

I really recommend a Symbian S60-based phone if you are really looking a phone with which you can run a ZX Spectrum-emulator. And if you are really a games player, get N-Gage... :)

    Yaaay for n-gage...!

Symbian is actually a great platform for emulators: Spectrum (all models), C64, MSX, Megadrive/Genesis, Game Boy Color, NES, and MAME so far... and a Neo Geo Pocket Color on the way.

If you use a 1 gig MMC memory card I think I'm right in saying you could fit all the games released for those platforms onto one card?

Well, not ALL of them. But LOTS of them... :)
