100 Spectrum games you HAVE to play before you die..

edited January 2005 in Games
Nominations please :)

Im sick of seing all those progs on TV, like 100 things to do before you hit 30, haha, and if only they`d had them on a couple of years ago, I`d have tried to do maybe 5... but Im old and decrepid now, and certainly won`t ever swim with dolphins or parachute outa a plane..

Im probably not qualified to say that many, as Im a bit crap, but the games I`ve mentioned in the "Your Fave 5 Spec Games" type topics would be a start for my choices/contributions... but perhaps not my actual vote for this..

I`ll say (one more time)... Great Escape

and somedifferent choices this time... Thundercats... Thrust... Combat School and Elite

:)

How about parachuting out of a plane with dolphins? ;) [Don't be silly, with a parachute is a lot safer -- Ed]

That f**kin' 'Walking In The Air' song has the very same effect on me. I feel like commiting mass genocide every time I hear it.

    Necros.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT TO PLAY BEFORE YOU DIE?!"
could also be taken as a death sentence, so a proper death wish in that case would be to complete one of those Speccy games that due to bugs are impossible to complete. :)

    OK, lame joke.

Are you sure that you really like MM/JSW?
  • edited December 2004
Whats even more worse is his fascination with Neighbours and one of the most ugly 'female' tennis players ever ! ;)
  • edited December 2004
I remember Martyn Brown (and one of his mates, probably the other coder) showing off a demo work-in-progress version of Henry's Hoard in a little computer shop called Micro Byte, in Wakefield. Happy days. :)

I would nominate Jet Pac to be in the list and 3D Death Chase. :)

A cryptic message if ever I saw one :D
  • edited January 2005
Well, as a spanish player, I know some games I found awesome and think weren't named over here:

    - El Poder Oscuro (translation: The Dark Power). In this game you drive a big giant robot like Mazinger Z, but you could detach a small operational capsule and even more, you could get off the capsule and walk as a man. You begin at the first screen and the problem is a dark power (like the Nothing from the Neverending Story) is eating everything, slowly but unstopping. You have to make your way with the robot to the main base where you could find the ray to stop definitely the dark power, but for that matter you must use cleverly your 3 vehicles. Sometimes the Big Robot is the adecuate to destroy obstacles, sometimes your little capsule can let you fly to reach needed switches, and sometimes you must get on foot to get into small areas. Very entertaining.

    - Paris-Dakar: this game from Zigurat is wonderful. I've spent many, many evenings driving the rally car and following the directions from the Road-Book, in races of 200-300 or even more than 400 Kms. If you haven't played this game, give it a try.

    - Humphrey: very addictive, and what's more, easy to begin, difficult to finish. Basically you have to route your way in every level "painting" the floor of the whole one, avoiding contact with the many creatures which patrol the areas. There are power-ups, teleporters, difficult spots, platforms,...

-Rock'N'Roller (Toposoft): you drive a car in 30 levels (circuits) and have to avoid other cars while you find peaces of some prototypes to reach next level. It's very funny.

And about all those games everybody knows, my personal favourites are:
    - Head Over Heels: the best of the bests
    - Mad Mix Game
    - Batman the Movie
    - Beach Head
    - Saboteur
    - Cozumel (spanish text adventure)
    - Nebulus (terrific)
    - Exolon, Cybernoid I&II, Stormlord and probably every game from Raffaelle Cecco
    - Match Day II
    - Equinox
    - Freddy Hardest
    - H.A.T.E.
    - Hero Quest
    - Intensity (very addictive, from Steve Turner)
    - Quazatron and Magnetron (I liked both)
    - Mazemania
    - Wanted Monty Mole
    - Navy Moves (damn, how much I like this one!)
    - Night Shift
    - Knight Lore, Alien 8, Nightshade and Pentagram. I didn't like Atic Atac or Sabre Wulf however. Call me "strange". I liked Underwurlde though.
    - Target Renegade
    - Rescue from Atlantis (Dinamic): a little jewel.
    - Astro Marine Corps (very impressive in every aspect: music, graphics, playability,...)
    - Robocop
    - Terramex
    - Dan Dare and Dan Dare III (I liked Dave Perry Games full of color, like Extreme or TMN Turtles)
    - Turbo Esprit
    - Operation Wolf

    Regards.
