BTW ZXClub ... I sent you e-mail to "join" but I didn't get a response ... am I being anal-retentive in wanting a "join successful" reply??? ;)
Skarpo :)
my apologies i'm new to all this and didn't set any kind of reply system to emails you are in skarpo and will recieve the game info once one is chosen.
Thanks for sending me a confirmation e-mail. I have had problems with Hotmail delivering e-mail either late or not at all, to and from me.

Thanks Mel but I do not need it ... funny thing is that I just got a Gmail account a few days ago. I signed up for the Beta testing in April last year and they finally said "fine, here you go" ... the thing though is that for some reason I have a hard time getting rid of the Hotmail account ... I've had it since spring 1996 ... *sob* ... fond memories ... and my Rocketmail account I have had since 1995 ... I am a packrat ... can't throw away good old accounts.
Anywho ... I use the Hotmail account for spam and clubs and such ...
btw - if we play harrier attack or buggaboo like game for the best score and time: maybe some rzx would be good to choose the winner.
if we play saboteur or dizzy like stuff... no records could be done (well, as a saboteur you can earn some bucks).. but everyone who succeds is a winner.
then we could just discuss about gaming experience and how did it improve our lives... ;)
well?
Yeah that's the way it's going to work out not all games are about high scores
but the discussion can cover points like
this bit was harder than i remember
or i couldn't complete this game because before i used pokes
this game was good i wish i'd bought it originally
etc..
that kind of thing
the main idea behind the club is to get people to invest time in one game rather than jump from game to game every five minutes which is so easy with emulation

NOOOOooooo!
No No No No No!
Why must everything we do be a competition? Do Book clubs give out prizes to the first to finish a book?
No! They read it, then sit around with tea and biscuits and discuss it.
There's already enough speccy games competitions, with MARP and the Speccy Tour - and we don't have a good games club, where we discuss the game of the week and swap tips, and opinions.
Here's what it should be about:

And that's what WOS needs - we have the charts where games get voted for, but we need a good games club discussion group. Get people into a game, rather than just a cursory glance.
Yes Dunny that's exactly it,some people might only get 20 mins a week spare to play where as others might get 2 hours a day so score's aren't always comparable but people can still post them just as long as they don't think it makes them the winner

I agree that any 'Game club' should be about playing the game for around a week and then discussing it. I think we should aim to play 'forgotten' games rather than well-known ones and the random-search feature should be used to find them. Someone should suggest a game and then we can all agree on it.
I don't think this should be about high-scores, although there is nothing wrong with people putting their high-scores into the discussion. Also, coming-up with challenges in the manner of Stuart Campbell's 'MAME Parlour' is fine and dandy. The point of playing these games, after all, is to have fun and rediscover the programmers creation not merely to stroke chins over an old computer game. What we must not do is simply turn this into a competition.
well, I din?t say I like that option :)...
now we can see that most of \"involved\" gamers want to just play anything for having good time and to freely talk about it, yeah, that?s pleasant...I personally never made any record in any game...
discussing and comparing experiences would be preferable for me too. ;)
I like the idea of trying certain games, ?cause there is a chance to try games I never knew, saw, played... and to be in touch with that \"common smell\" of doing something together.
So... Let?s start...\"competition\" begins! ;) Peace...
btw: is possible to nominate ONE game on and one till it will be chosen? ...not familiar with this idea, but it slipped on my mind at the moment - there is a chance to repeat it forever.
will all the nominations be proclaimed/published on the web? (I mean - not only the chosen one) - to see what else we have in \"back-up facility\". Should be good to choose later, or in some order.....?
