Football Director

Hi all,I've just found this website and am stunned so many people are keeping the Spectrum world alive!!

I would love to be able to play the old Football Director game on my PC. Can anyone tell me how I can acheive this via downloads or would I need to buy a certain CD?

    Welcome to our little world !

    Retros huge at the moment, this is a great site with a great forum and of course nearly all the games listed at the archive can be downloaded.

    Get yourself an emulator ( http://www.worldofspectrum.org/emulators.html ) and then go to the archive here at the site. ( http://www.worldofspectrum.org/games/index.html ).

    Find a game you remember and download it. Then you normally extract the file from the zip and open it up with the emulator.

    Should work fine. Also at the archive are a lot more for each game, game reviews from the old magazines such as Crash! etc, tips and cheats and also walkthroughs.

    Currently in the forum theres an ex employee of Ocean Software who is very interesting to hear from, theres news that Matthew Smith (Jet Set Willy) is doing a new Speccy game and theres also many PC remakes of Speccy games out there.

    Because Retro is so big at the mo theres a good magazine called Retro Gamer. ( http://www.livepublishing.co.uk/retro/index.shtml )

    Features Speccy/C64/Atari/Amiga/Consoles etc. Just a few months ago they published a special one-off Your Sinclair supplement which was excellent.

    You can buy certain cd's off ebay with Speccy games/roms etc but theyre all here to download anyway for free.

    So get the emulator, download a few classics like Bombjack, Commando, Chuckie Egg etc and give it a go. You can also click on the 'java' buttons next to most games to play the Speccy game immediately online

    You can also get an emulator for a Pocket PC ( http://pocketclive.emuunlim.com/ ) and theres something called a GP32 which is a small handheld console which runs emulators, eg Speccy/C64/Atari ST/NES/GB/Megadrive etc which is great for Speccy games on the go ( http://www.gbax.com/gp32review.html )

    If you like Football Director, then try all the other games from Cult Games (D&H Games). Most of them are ace :D
    Striker is my fave!
