Nethack

edited May 2005 in Games
I am the worlds biggest fan of a freeware game 'Nethack'. Its been ported to every known format in the cosmos (not the speccy). I wonder if it could ever be ported.

    You're Raisse? I'm impressed.

As the executable is now around 1.5 mb (more for the win32 port) and Nethack is possibly the least bloated app I've seen, I'd say it's unlikely unless someone ports it to one of the more beefier clones.

Rogue? To me always liked RPG/D&D games on a spectrum. :)

Of course what you say is true. I suppose it would have to be a really scaled down model, maybe with 2 or 3 monsters. lol.

My current "clone" of nethack has most of the more common monsters (when you've got the actual monster handling done, more monsters don't take much space) but I've had to cut down on most of the special levels such as minetown and the quests. then there's the screen resolution to take care of.

I would say that a clone of Hack (I still have a copy of the source to 1.03e) is far more feasible.

Well, thanks for the input. Maybe it is possible. I'd love some brainiacs to get around the table bang some heaqds together and sort it out. After all, if Psion could fit a good version of scrabble into 48K all those years ago. Then perhaps the sky is indeed the limit.
