Can't be ... I heard the git goes bananas for Jar Jar Stinks and they have a love affair but Jar Jar can't have babies because he got fried in The Phantom Menace.

Taking my son to see it Saturday afternoon, when the Cup Final is on, he gets hyper even at the mention of Star Wars at the moment. Thought I'd take him during the Cup Final cos I couldn't bear to see the scum Gooners win another trophy when we just miss out on Europe.
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...

Here it's one of the places where they'll have midnight shows. But I've planned on going for a 'regular' show on friday evening... ;)

  • edited May 2005

Friday evening 8:15 for me, takin the wife, I nearly wet myself after seeing the theatrical trailer, as usual I'll probably start hyper-ventilating in the cue

Would rather the 'scum' gooners win it than the bandwagon fans of Man Utd !

I'm off to see the film later this afternoon, seen the last 2 when they went to dvd and other 'dubious' means but i thought i owe it to George this time !

The ending does look very good actually

Just got back home from being in the theater. Man, oh man! This movie is a huge leap from Phantom Menace ... I am without words ... then again it is 4am here

ok ... I don't think I will be falling asleep any time soon.

Anyways ... I went with my best friend to see the movie ... we were at the theater at 21:30 and were expecting to have to wait in line until midnight ... there were maybe about 10-15 people in line ... at 21:45 we get to go in and find a seat ... we got choice seats, middle, not too high up and not too close to the screen ... the theater got packed pretty quick but people were still coming in until 5 minutes before the movie started (dumbbutts) ... a few dates had to be split up ... *boo hoo* for them ... arrive early ... secure your seats ... pee before you leave the house ;) ... Funny enough there were plenty of people of all ages ... all the teenagers had those silly little (segmented)light-up lightsabers while the young ones wore home made costumes ... 4 girls in their mid-teens were wearing cloaks and semi costumes and wearing those lightsabers ... they actually went close to the screen and started fighting with their sabers ... and quite ferociously ... in walks a kid wearing a pretty good Dart Vader costume ... the girls throw taunts at him "asking" him to come fight them ... he just gives them a sharp wave and finds a seat ... (smart guy) ... 2 and a half hours of waiting ... smalltalk about the movie ... poking fun at passerbys ... lights out ... hush goes the crowd ... a few trailers ... nothing memorable except maybe for The Island (or whatever it's called) ... 20th century Fox logo gets drowned out because of cheers and clapping ... "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away" ... someone shouts "I've already seen this one!" ... cheers and clapping ... hush ... the crawl ... and then comes on one of the best SW intros, if not the best ... R2-D2 is a constant source of comedic relief ... I will have to go see it again because there is just way too much to see ... and for some reason I completely missed the music! it went right past me ... my friend said that before he saw the movie he had listened to the CD with the score and he loved it ... I don't know what is wrong with me but either the music is so well intertwined with the story that it becomes part of it or what ... I don't know ... this movie did not disappoint me, and I do not think it will disappoint you.

No spoilers ... but it is true that Jar Jar Stinks is barren ... and maybe there is a little too much of exaggerated drama at the end.

Now that I know more about the movie afterwards (I stayed away from spoilers) I am wondering if I saw a cut-down version of it. My friend pointed out to me that in the book BASED on the movie we have a few scenes missing (vs the book, that is.)

    Where was Mon Mothma?
Where was the library lady from the Jedi Temple?
What happened to the shot from Dagobah?

OK ... so ... is George hinting that Darth Sidious is Anakin's dad?

    What do you guys think?

Did you see George Lucas to the left when Anakin comes up the stairway to see Palpatine in the "theatre" ? Apparently that's his daughter playing with him opposite him.

    Who is mon Mothma?
    The Library Woman was nowhere
There is no shot from Dagobah.

A lot of people have been mentioning the one shot of Jar-Jar...

There are actually two shots of Jar Jar. The second everyone will know (Funeral scene). The first time (and the only time you hear him speak), is when Anakin and Obi-Wan come back from the rescue. As Palaptine and Anakin walk into the Senate (after Obi-Wan leaves), someone says to Jar-Jar "Get out of the way", and you hear Jar-Jar say "Sorry!".

And that's it! Hurruh! Nothing else!

Otherwise, a fantastic film! Lucas has redeemed himself, and for the first time, near the end of the film, there was a tear in my eye. I had to go home afterwards and put on ANH!

One of the worst bits for me was when Anakin was slaughtering the 'younglings', i dont mean because he was slaughtering kids , no no no ! I meant the acting of that one kid who says something to Anakin before he slaughters them all.

Out of all the child actors in the world why did Lucas pick one of the worst ones ever ! He only had to say one line and it was terrible.

Did love the way at the end they were on that original rebel starship (which gets caught at the beginning of Star Wars), forgotton the name of it but they really did capture the late 70's sci-fi look from Star Wars.

Saw it last night, great film. There was a lot to take in. Ian McDarmaid was fantastic as Palpy. Great action scenes and awesome light sabre duels. A lot of the issues were resolved to link in with the original trilogy.

I'm gonna go and watch it again at the flicks, definitely.

I agree with you on that one, maybe he's the brother of the kid in episode one ???

But I have to admit I am going to watch it again when the crowds have died down and I don't have some horrible little kid sat in front of me going to the bog every 10 minutes.

In the "theater" Palpatine tells anakin the story of Darth Plagus the Wise and his apprentice who later killed him (and we kind of get to know that Palpatine was that apprentice) so if he learned *everything* from Darth Plagus then he must also have learned the way to "manipulate the midichlorians to create life" ... which explains how Anakin came to be ... Palpy and Ani, like father, like son.

    Yes? No?

Wahey!!! I saw Revenge Of The Sith today and I thought it was amazing. Lots of violent (to a child anyway) scenes, like the bit where (***spoilers ahead***) Anakin lost his legs and the bit where Anakin was transformed into the Darth Vader we all know and love.

Overall it was an excellent piece of film-making and a DAMN improvement over the shitty mess that was The Phantom Menace.

    Necros.

All Anakin wanted was to protect the one he loved. The tears where in his his eyes as he slaughtered the separatist leaders.

Horrifically burned and mutilated, to within an inch of his life. "Re-born" in a life support suit, only to find out that he had killed the very person he wanted to protect. You could feel his agony as he screamed "Noooooo!", and fell totally to the dark side.

    Also:
Amidala giving birth, then dying, and then watching Vader rise.

    Birth, death, re-birth.

    Awesome movie. Well done George.

Yeah, but he turned to the dark side to save Padme, o.k.

so after she died why didn't he just kill Palpatine as he was no longer any use to him

to me Jedi seems to propose that Vader was afraid to die (only at the end do you understand) that's why he turned

is it because Lucas couldn't write a coherent story to save his life

And why did Yoda bottle it he hardly seemed defeated to me either

You remember what he was trying to teach Anakin earlier in the movie ... don't get attached as it will lead you to the Dark Side ... the dude is 900 years young so he's had some time to learn to distance himself from the sorrow.

Hmm I took that as to explaining how Obi Wan could 'appear' and talk to Luke in the first movies.

    Good point!

One thing I wanted to get explained (in e. 1-3) was why DV didn't "fade away" in ROTJ.

Why did they add in the fact that Obi-Wan can communicate with Qui-Gon at Tatooine.

And did anyone see Obi-Wan take Anikan's lightsaber at the end. He gives that saber to Luke in the A New Hope.

As I said Higher up the thread, I think it was to explain how Obi wan could talk and appear to Luke in the 'next' movies, Yodi said he had just discovered how to do it which would explain why Qui-Gon did not appear or advice Obi Wan during the new trilogy

"And did anyone see Obi-Wan take Anikan's lightsaber at the end. He gives that saber to Luke in the A New Hope."

Yeah, He picks it up off the floor before he leaves after chopping his legs off.

More stuff occurs to me every time I watch ROTS.

When Obi Wan leaves in order to find General Grievous, he turns to Anakin and says, "Goodbye old friend."

And that's true, as the next time they met, he was Lord Vader.

Also, did anyone notice the guy stood near Vader and the Emperor as they were gazing at the Embryonic Death Star? He looked remarkably like a young Peter Cushing. I reckon it was young Grand Moff Tarkin.

And how about that valiant young Padawan at the Jedi temple? He bravely fought off several clone troopers before succumbing to their overwhelming numbers :(
