Hmmm, there's a few titles in there I wouldn't include myself, my opinion of course, but would anyone really miss "That's The Spirit", "Panzadrome", "Huncback 2" and "Chuckie Egg 2" for example??
I would! Two of those were up there among my favorites. Not to mention, each of those games has a fairly interesting set of facts associated with them that reveal a bit of general spectrum history.
Either way, it'll be a fantastic book, but surely Doomdark's Revenge deserves a place above the games mentioned above??

I *do* have LoM, which mentions Doomdark's Revenge (and Eye of the Moon).
I actually wrote a DR page - but it ended up being a limited rehash of the LoM page...
Depending on how things go, I may revisit it, but I find it kind of interesting that the games you say 'won't be missed' were some of my favorites! :D

    Preorder it...

    :) Just go to www.zxgoldenyears.com :D

Pre-orders are going really well... so well, in fact that it's now pretty darn certain this thing will be printed...
Which also means I'll be taking away the 'free postage' option soon, so if you were thinking of taking advantage of that, you probably don't want to hang around too long...

Nice one, a big 'good lad' to that man what great effort.

It's about time someone whote a book like this.

    Can't wait, have pre-ordered :)
  • edited August 2005
I think I'll pre-order later today when I get back home - assuming andrew hasn't closed down the free-postage offer yet. I can dearly do with that!

Well, aside from preparing for the hurricane which is heading vaguely in my direction, I'm about halfway through 1985.
I'm planning (hurricane willing) on taking this week to knock a lot of the book out. Of course, this may be altered depending on the damage to my beach house in Gulfport - the place that received the brunt of the Hurricane damage... :(

Still, in the meantime, I'm working on the book :) Just got Nightshade done, now onto Nodes of Yesod...

oh heck forgot about you poor people other side of the pond with the hurricane....god and I was worried about going to the car boot sale in the rain......

Best wishes and take care over there - chris

meh... just had a tornado roar through town... nothing new here :D You get used to it after a while...
Luckily I'm well out of the direct path and well away from the coast.
Of course, the beach house is probably gone...

Oh... Knowing our power company, we're gonna have a power cut here at some point, so I may be offline for a couple of days. (and therefore the zxgoldenyears.com/.net websites...)
If this happens... don't panic - I haven't done a runner with the money :D

    Remember - Don't panic :D

Nice! I hope the book is completed now, I will probably order it in a future.

By the way, where do you exactly live in the USA?

    Bye

    Bye

I currently live in Auburn Alabama.
We also had a house in Gulfport Mississippi, but that's gone now, along with our entire neighbourhood.
I'm hoping that our friends are okay. :(

Yes, I hope the same as you, and that nobody else suffers from this devastating hurricane. It's good that its gone, but now there is a lot of work to do in the affected states. Its amazing the force of the nature sometimes.

I am moving to Colorado at the end of september, to the highest town in the states, so I am going to be under nature's risks.

    Good Luck

oops havnt checked back here in ages, have preordered now :)

I've pre-ordered too. This book simply has to be supported. All the more since we don't have Retro Gamer anymore, which means the book will now have much less echo in the press, sadly.
  • edited September 2005
I haven't pre-ordered coz I'm skint. But I do intend to buy the book, and will probably pre-order sooner or later.
I admit that's not overly helpful, but I'm just stating my intentions.

any news or info update on the book ?
  • edited September 2005
Except that it has had one more signee on board - namely moi!
  • edited September 2005
I'm still plugging away... I'm into 1986 right now... It's not going as fast as I'd like, but I'm working on it... (I've just taken on a block of work for a new client, so it eats into my writing time a bit...) I still expect to get finished by early to mid-October though, if all goes well.

I've got a mailing list set up on zxgoldenyears.com, where I'll be making some interesting announcements sometime soon.

Still on track? It was due to be finished last September! (Sorry to be negative and blunt but I haven't got my rose-tinted specs handy) ;)

Having said that, Speccy Spoilers was due to be updated last September too but that doesn't matter so much because:
    1) I don't charge money for it
    2) Speccy Spoilers is shite compared to the RZX Archive so no-one cares anyway
