Do you need to see Firefly before watching it? I haven't seen that yet but I will watch it in the future so I don't want the story to be spoiled. Should I wait?

    Possibly

In the link below is a review of the film and it says serenity is set a few months after the last tv episode.

It's vitally important to see the first 10 minutes of the film if you've never seen Firefly before, otherwise you'll be completely lost.

What a fantastic film though! Action, adventure, humour, whoopage and story!

Everything Star Wars prequels were missing!

    Nathan Fillion stole the show!

He was excellent as the evil mumbling priest 'Caleb' in Buffy.

Oh man, what a suprise that was, brilliant and i agree much better than the star wars prequels. I've never watched Firefly or read the three comics that take u from the end of the tv series to the beginning of this film, but i will now.

After having heard so much about Serenity, I'm looking forward to seeing the launch of the series in India on friday. Better late than never I say!

Also loved the first episode of "Heroes" that was launched last week. Interesting TV times ahead!

Saw it a while back after reading all the hype. I was very disappointed with it.

I thought it was dull. And I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on. I did see the first 10 mins, but maybe I wasn't paying enough attention (I'd never seen Firefly).

I thoroughly enjoyed Firefly and Serenity.

You know how the acting and dialogue is so wooden and stilted in Star Trek Next Gen? Well, it is just so natural and smooth in Firefly from the very first second.

Will it be dubbed in India? Coz it is a cross between Rawhide and Star Wars. They even do some cow rustling...

Would that go down well in India?

For once, Firefly and Serenity is a sci-fi show both Amy and I enjoy (although I was fuming Fox axed Dark Angel in order to make it)

No, it won't be since it's on HBO and thank god for that. Besides, we aren't all that fixated about cows as is commonly believed - not all of us at any rate! :)

Hopefully they will show the episodes in the proper order.

I bought the Firefly DVDs over a year ago having read a glowing review. Despite not being a Buffy or Angel fan, I liked the sound of it. However, with 2 babies in the house and a wife who doesn't like Sci Fi or Westerns, I never found the time to watch them until I was away on a business trip last month in a flat on me own, and watched the whole lot in 4 days!

I absolutely loved it! Great characters!
For some reason, I've got the hots for Kaylee...!

I've since read the comics that bridge the story between the series and the movie, so all I have to do now is get an evening to myself sometime to watch Serenity.

Hope the story gets continued somehow....

ah thats who she is, on the back of my 'prison break' magazine there is an advert for a sci-fi convention, jewel staite is going to be there.

    Yes, of course!
But Kaylee is a pretty soppy character. Common sense tells me I should feel disdain towards her, but instead I'm attracted!

I read that they made Jewel put on lots of weight for the series which she lost again afterwards, but they let her keep her figure for the movie, so that's another reason to look forward to it! :)

Firefly DVDs in Eastern Europe? Of course not. But I get it in a way as it was with Speccy SW two decades ago (connection with!).
Even Serenity arrived with big delay (over 1 year).
Pretty good serial, but probably too expensive.
I don't think that ever will be continued. Even Serenity2 will be hardly realised,
Maybe when Nath Fillion will have 58 years - it is now 'in' to have such old action movie actors - see Die Hard and Indiana Jones 4 :D

Just saw Serenity. Loved it! Better than some of the CG heavy, star studded Hollywood stuff I've seen.

Yes, I finally got round to watching the movie this weekend too, and throughly enjoyed it! Nice to see the transition to big screen-budget (albeit modest).

They kept the feel of the TV series, but with obviously more "spacey" parts and less "wild west" parts, which I think was OK as some of the old western type scenes seemed a little anachronistic in the series.

I'm sorry to say that Kaylee doesn't get too much of a look-in though. :( I guess all the female-character-centric script work was concentrated on River. Wow, she kicks ass!

    I was rather gobsmacked at
    Spoiler:

Possibly with the exception of the 3 real Star Wars movies, and I think that is heavily biased with nostalgia, Firefly/Serenity is without a doubt the best Sci Fi series I have ever watched.

Battlestar Galactica (the new ones) is a trailing second.
