I have just been on site installing ApplicationVantage onto a Windows 2003 server with an ApplicationVantage agents running on a networkVantage probe to do an unattended capture of some Telnet traffic which goes accross a WAN to an AIX box that has oracle DB installed. As there will be no network traffic from the AIX to the Oracle DB I have had to install serverVantage to get some stats from the Oracle instance. Hopefully I will get enough info to pinpoint where the slow down is when users scan barcodes with a handheld device on the customers new WMS (wharehouse management system). Once I get the remote capture traffic back i can use the bounce diagram and thread views to give a more detailed CNS breakdown (client-network-server) :)

I've been collerating mp-ki-128 capture data, and cross referencing against the older mpkh capture date for a client.

Do you know the programmers? It often comes down to things like how well indexes are built, how much testing goes on before a new record actually gets entered into the DB(we have similar and a new order/transaction is checked multiple times against every single order that has EVER been entered - so the programmers had to really optimise the code responsible for all the checking to avoid slowdown - so for us it wasn't the Clients or the network, just the massive amount of SQL checking thousands and thousands of records with each scan.)
    Just a thought.

I only have problems using BitTorrent but I gave up on it in the end.

Anything else, I can sort out without problems.

bittorrents easy peasy tho thats what i cant understand

    install azureus
set where its to bung yer downloads
    find a site
    search it
    find the file you want
    click download
    download SHOULD start in azureus
download either ends, or you carry on where you left off next time

the only problem i had was with the firewall not letting azureus do its thang, so i shifted ports in azureus...sorted

    ASpec.

Its an off the shelf system. Client goes to the supplier/designers and says:

    'your apps crap'
    they say 'prove it'

So we go in and take a load of traces of a transaction, look at where the delay is. We can then say
'well you have 170ms of latency accross the link and 17000 application turns from the Oracle DB to the end user for a simple order transaction. Do you want me to go into anymore detail Mr.Application-designer??'

    Job Done!!

well I'm building this, for which I've been variously accused of being weird, in possession of too much spare time/money and/or madness, weird - and occasionally, a clever boy - though the latter one not often enough in my opinion - plus it was my mum so probably doesn't count.

I'm building a nuclear powered speccy that creates a quauntum singularity and with the use of some soggy noodles can tear the space time continuum sending myself into the z-dimension where with the help of one of those silver thingys above can make me go really fast. :)

Ha... I can program a Spectrum (Basic and a bit of mcode), Amiga (in AMOS), do things in HTML, set a video timer, set up and play MAME games, tune in a TV set, build and fix PC computers, wire a plug... but if anyone hands me a mobile phone then I ain`t got a clue!
(Have not used the new fangled bittorrent thing yet)

There must be a reason why you'd want to hammer a nail into a boiled egg?
