Faulty ZX Spectrum 48k

Hi Guys,

Been sorting through my rubber keyed 48k machines lately and decided to buy some new keyboard membranes for them.

I replaced the membrane in what I thought was a perfect 48k, but sometimes for no reason it will lock up or reset it self (sometimes constant resetting before locking up). It does this most especially when it has warmed up.

Me keyboard works now but the spec is a bit erratic !

Tried a few power supplies on it.

Any ideas ???

    If the CPU and ULA are in sockets try and push them down for tighter fit, as with all chips they will move as they warm up and go cold.

    The ULA is the only socketed IC, tried pressing it into the socket.

    Had the machine running for approx 30 mins from cold, but once warmed up continues to lock up/reset.

    What game are you playing? If its Elite, then maybe your machine is bored & wants to do something else.

    Nah, I wasn't playing Elite like. I'd be bored playing that ! Never really got into it, although I know everybody else probably did !

    Just changed the ULA from another Spec and has been running okay for the minute. The one I removed seemed to be rather on the hot side.

    Heh-heh !

    Must be my lucky day, managed to get one of me Issue 2 Spec's working properly too !

    Took ages to tune the colour back in though !

    Also managed to patch up a keyboard membrane that I thought was goosed...and still have a spare spanking new one
