Remember it, have watched it lately and love it. Probably the best of the productions of Quatermass, with that 80's something about it. LAY!

    Sod it!

I could not find the first two parts. But I think I watched it at the time, or maybe seen it on repeat. John Mills is great in the role I thought. Must have cost a bit to make that.

Oh very true, they are good, but the ITV one is better. I also enjoy the old TV versions, especially 'Pit' with Andre Morrell. It was broadcast live using some video for the outside scenes. Brilliantly done for the time.

They have it on BritBox, so if your are in the mood to watch some other old stuff, worth the 12 quid for one month to watch it all.

  • TLOU episode 3 done. That was incredibly moving. It's Bill and Franks story - it plays out very different from what's hinted at in the game.
  • I found the entire Grange Hill series on ITVX and i thought 'great. I can watch them all' but i can't. I think you need to sign up to premium. So much for it being free.

  • Yeah, they signed up a lot of the Britbox stuff to be broader so are now competing with Britbox which they helped set up. Not sure what the business model is there? Obviously some change of deal or contract. Unless the premium covers the cross over stuff!?! Still plenty on it that is free though.
    Sod it!

  • Was looking forward to watching the late 80's ones as the company that released the DVDs is not releasing any more. Maybe they sold the license to ITVX/Britbox. They stopped releasing them at the 1987 series just as things were getting better and my favourite characters were in it.

I have decided to get the book for now, and I might get the DVDs at some point.

  • I've just sort of noticed David Thewlis in the last few years. Sure, he turned up in loads before, but it's only now I've recognised how he's consistently good, no matter what's around him.

This week I have been enjoying Extraordinary, a sitcom on Disney+ about a world where everyone has superpowers when they come of age, except the lead is still waiting for hers. It's a very British approach to superpowers and sitcoms. I reckon plenty here would like it if they gave it a whirl.

Tulsa King has also been going down well, with Stallone as a gangster out after a 25 year stretch of keeping his mouth shut, setting up business after the old family just want him out of the way. I came to it after recommendation from my daughter, who's finding old man Sly quite the hottie!

David Thewliss is a strange one. He's obviously a very, very good actor but he goes under the radar far too often in my opinion. He should be a bit of a super-star with how good he is. One of my favourites of his roles is when he's introduced as Professor Lupin in Harry Potter and The Prisoner Of Azkaban. He's the stand-out star of that movie - which is saying something with Gary Oldman introduced too.

The scene in the Shrieking Shack near the end with Gary Oldman, David Thewliss, Timothy Spall and Alan Rickman is a classic. And they're obviously having the time of their lives doing it.

  • Agreed, but I think some actors are just good without the ego or over the top personality which makes them appear humble. He is one of those, and I think in that industry if you don't shout all the time you get overlooked by the hype and PR. He goes way back, I noticed him first in Dragonheart, standing out, even then, amongst the terrible story and bad acting. HE kind of came and went until Harry Potter. Which I totally agree with you Vampyre. He also brought the John Dee character to life playing the obscene psychopath to perfection.

He first came to my attention when he was licking chocolate off Jane Horrocks' tits in Life Is Sweet :))

I am leaning toward Paul Bradley, over David Thewlis just now.

A few others who might be able to pull it off: Tim Curry, Jim Broadbent and Malcolm McDowell .
