OK gonna take the plunge, and watch episode 1 of The Last Of Us! Prepared for potential wokeness, but not going to let that interfere! Have to adopt the radical lefts mindset....It's an "adaptation" which means even if it's based on works by horrible people, but it's...Oh f*ck....I'm just gonna watch it....Might get a box of Kleenex next to me incase the opener makes me cry :))
Not kidding though, the games prologue is gut wrenching! Let's see....
Will report back...
EDIT: 30 seconds in....and sold! The whole ant/fungus speech had me hooked immediately!....Is that Doctor played by Neil Tennant? If it's not it bloody well looks like him :))
EDIT: No it's not Neil Tennant, but listening to the Scottish accent! It's the drippy boyfriend that was going out with Julie in Paul Calf :))
Alright in all seriousness I think I'm sold on this! It's doing pretty good so far, staying pretty close to what it's supposed to. I can ignore the obvious stuff, not even gonna mention it...
Not sure about making Tess look like a meth head though?

It's great that bit isn't it? Its all "yeah, yeah, never gonna happen" initially until the bombshell of the world warming up slightly. That soon wiped the smile off everyone's faces.
Watched episode 2 of the last of us, yup it's good!
Ellie does look weird to me though, because facially she looks nothing like the game character, and even though she probably looks closer to her actual age in real life she almost looks too young, and the show character seems a little more sweary than I remember the game character, so maybe it balances out :))
I kind of want to replay the first game again, but now they've remade it for PS5, so now it's like if I can ever get one of those maybe I'd like to play that version....I never did finish my playthrough of the remastered version on PS4. I noticed they actually called the PS5 remake The Last of Us Part 1...interesting...
Not going to lie I'm very curious to see how things like Sam and Henry, The University, David, and the inevitable ending come about with real people in those roles? It'll be make or break for the show in those situations!
Guess the show's not that woke though I noticed early on they never even addressed the spore clouds, or had Joel tell Tess we'd better put our masks on, given these days I thought they'd have jumped at that chance! Given how broken some people are about it, almost seems like a wasted opportunity! :))
Also no scene with the Fedra guy with the broken mask, and the bookcase on top of him who asks you to finish him off before he turns, given todays world I thought they'd relish at the chance to have a scene where somebody shoots a cop, and gets away with it, although it is a mercy killing sooooo... :))

Been a while since I've played the game (I want the PS5 version but not paying £60 for the privilege!) but I think you have a choice to either mercy-kill him or not. In fact I'm pretty sure it's a choice - since my first playthrough I've not wasted precious ammo on him :)) I thought that might have been a good addition too - showing how ruthless Joel is - either way is cold-blooded.
I think they replaced that with Joel beating that guard to death instead. I can understand the change as Ellie witnesses it - the look on her face tells you that she realises nothing will stand in Joel's way.
Just done with episode 3....Man that was an emotional rollercoaster, did not go quite how I expected in the end, but I was glued to the screen so they did something right.
I think if the wokeys stopped virtue signalling so hard, and portrayed every gay relationship on screen as well as this episode, they wouldn't have to make every pre-teen in every Disney cartoon gay.
I guess what I'm saying is if you've played the game you already knew Bill was gay, you already knew who Frank was, this even though it deviates from the game portrays it perfectly the whole Bill situation. This felt right, like it was supposed to be, it felt well thought out, well written, and seemed realistic, romantic, funny at times. and genuinely good to watch.
I'll be honest I was expecting this entire show to be all visuals, coupled with paper thin scripts, wooden acting, blatantly obnoxious wokeness, pathetically obvious virtue signalling, and a starring character who spent the duration of his screen time trying to save the terrible show, and underskilled actors around them, as is all too common these days.
Nope I was literally wondering if a tear was going to roll down my left cheek as Frank drank his wine :))
I was absolutely convinced that they'd have Frank betray Bill - well, from Bill's perspective in the game it's a betrayal but we don't know the fully story. When it cut to three years later and they have the argument in the street - I suspected this was the start of that.
Nope - I think the script writers played the gamers and it was brilliantly well done.
The only bit I didn't like was Bill out in the middle of the street under no cover taking on the Raiders - was dumb to say the least. When they cut to the scene immediately after in the wheelchair and you suspect it's Bill but then it zooms in... f**k.
This has got to be the oddest horror film I have ever seen. It was made in 1977, with a very low budget. But didn't get much of a release then apparently. The director forgot about it, then discovered years later it had a cult following.
UK one started out good but got farcical in later seasons. Never did get round to the US one.
UK one. The dysfunctional nature of the families reminds me of certain families round here. The area it was filmed looks rough. Bet the cast and crew needed bouncers when filming.
The Wickerman remake, never actually seen this version, it popped up so.....
Haha. It’s so bad it’s kinda brilliant. I’m a huge fan of the original and rather than get annoyed by the remake I actually respect the Nicholas Cage treatment for not giving a toss about even trying to be good. It’s spawned a bunch of memes.

Started playing episode 4 but stopped it when I realized it was about 3 in the morning, and I had to up for work at 9 :))

US or UK?

Gosh, he looks like Sabreman in a movie.

Dang, the squiggly line got out.
