Call Of Cthulhu : Dark Corners Of The Earth

edited October 2005 in Chit chat
It's finally being released on Friday (assuming they don't put it back yet another few weeks). I really can't wait to get this. It both looks and sounds excellent, really true to the original material.

Is anyone else looking forward to it?

    This friday?!

    About bloody time :D

Pity I won't have the money to get it though :(

Did I hear right that it's being released on the PS2 aswell as the PC?
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

What is it, Film or Game?

I have just finished reading a boat load of H.P. Lovercraft stories and think they are excellent. Very atmospheric and pretty creepy.

I'd say 'shadow over Innsmouth' is one of my faves!!

As far as I know, it's being released on X-Box only. There's a different Cthulhu game coming to the PS2 next year some time.

Celephais is my favourite. It's not a horror story, but a fantasy. It's part of his dreamlands phase.

    Hmmm, that's a bit shite.

According to the official's site's FAQ it'll be avaliable for PC (the first question asks the PC specs required - this actually used to be one of the last questions).

And according to Games Industry it'll be avaliable for PS2 although it hasn't officially been Sony approved yet.

Just bought it. As soon as work finishes (1.30 PM), I'll be off home to play it for the rest of the weekend. :)

I'll let you know how it goes.

    I just realised something...

I won't have the money to buy it (if I can find it in stock somewhere). I'll be buying RE4 limited edition for the PS2 next week.

Ah well, I'll get it before christmas that's for sure :D

Well I've been playing it for most of the day and it is really good.

The first two chapters are fairly easy. You can wander around at your own pace, without the bother of getting killed. There are lots of gruesome setpieces and scenes, and the atmosphere of Lovecraft's stories is present in large amounts. It is really dark, so dark that half the time you can't see the doors even if you're standing right in front of them. The story is really interesting (what I've seen of it so far anyway) with lots of gloomy characters and some funny ones (the drunken Irishman :) ).

The shit really hits the fan once you reach chapter three. You're trapped in a hotel room, where several of the residents of Innsmouth are attacking you with knives and guns, and you have nothing to defend yourself with. Help!!!

That's as far as I've gotten so far. It's a brilliant game overall. You should buy it VincentAC, you'll really like it.

That decision has already been made... about two years ago when I heard about it :D

At that point it was PC only, but good to see it's out on other systems. The more people that get to experience and learn about Lovecraft the better.
