Minigame Competition 2005

edited December 2005 in Games

Hi guys, just thought I'd post this here as I haven't seen anything from Paolo.

The closing date for entries has passed and voting is now underway in this year's 8-bit minigame competition. For those who don't already know, this is an annual contest where programmers compete to write the best game in a limited amount of space - either 1K or 4K of memory.

The standard looks to be as high as ever this year, with 24 entries in the 1K category and 20 in the 4K category. A number of Spectrum games have been submitted, but while you're there you might want to check out the entries for some of the other machines - they're really rather good.

If you can spare a few minutes to bother to vote for some of the games you try - as many or as few as you like - it would be much appreciated.

You can find the site here: http://www.ffd2.com/minigame/

Have fun.

You preceded me by one day :)

    I guess I'm just lazy :)

I confirm everything that Jonathan said, including the quality of the games.

I've now voted to make up for my amazing disappearing game. (Or, at least, I've saved the vote. I don't know for sure if that is "it").

It took me a couple of days and my PC crashed when I'd filled in the entire form and decided that I hadn't given one of the ColecoVision games a proper chance, so I tried to play it again... Grr...

It didn't get any extra marks.

Oh, and I'd mention the link as http://minigamecomp.org.uk/ in case some people have login problems.

Just a note to announce that the voting is over, and that the results are available at

I would like to point out that two spectrum games arrived 3rd and 4th respectively in the 1k category. Great result, considering that the authors of those games were new in the competition.
