Not sure what problem you are having. Hmm... one thing you should check is that the GFX files have the *same* name as the snapshot you are trying to open in Emuzwin. So if the snapshot is named dizzy.sna then the GFX file should be named dizzy.gfx, etc for all files reqd by Emuzwin.

I have some 256 colour games on my site and you should be able to download and play them in Emuzwin without any problem.

Make sure you have the latest emuzwin version too.

Yours was the site i went to. Downloaded the emu and the 256 version of Dizzy1. I take it i am suppost to run the "DIZZY1.GFX" file but the emu doesnt recognise that file type or infact any others in the zip. All i have managed to do is open it in the GFX editor and see a nice 256 title screen but thats all

I think you should not unzip the games.
If you do, the file you are looking for should be a Z80,SNA or EZX.
Basically you have to load a snapshot, and if you have the new graphics in the same folder they will load automatically.
You should be able to run a game from a ZIP file as well, just load it from EmuZwin, and the emulator should sort the files and take care of the rest for you(if a valid snapshot is stored in the ZIP archive).

Are you opening the gfx file or the snapshot file? You are supposed to open the snapshot (.sna or .z80) file. The emu automatically loads the gfx file when using 256 colour mode.

Alternately, you can try what Armando said. Just load the snapshot directly from the zip file.

Right day two of this lol

I have since downloaded the ordinary Dizzy snapshot file and pasted it into the same directory as the "DIZZY.GFX" file along with the others namely "DIZZY1.CFG" "DIZZY1.GF7" "DIZZY1.GFB"

Now why then when i run the snapshot file i pasted all that runs is the original looking game.

    Okay, follow these exact steps:

    1) If you haven't done so already, download the 256 colour files

    2) Get the dizzy snapshot from somewhere. :)

    3) Download latest version of emuzwin

    4) Extract both emuzwin and the 256 colour files to some directory

    5) Copy the snapshot to the *same* directory as the 256 colour files.

    6) Rename the *snapshot* to the *same* name as the GFX file (not the other way around - my mistake). So if the gfx file is named DIZZY1.GFX, the snapshot should be named DIZZY1.SNA or DIZZY1.z80 or something.

    7) Start Emuzwin and Open the snapshot file. Emuzwin may ask you to save a .ezx file or something. Do so.

 Emuzin should now open the 256 colour file automatically.

    9) Note that from now on you can open either the snapshot or the .ezx file you created to play the 256 colour version of the game.

    Hope this helps!
