That's because the Newsnight editor Peter Barron is the proud owner of one.

(The ZX81 was only used in the intro)

You can watch the program, with a broadband connection, for 24 hours after it is transmitted and there is more about online gaming tonight.

If you are outside the UK and can't see the video then let me know.

One of the good things to come out of the anagram troll's latest rant on c.s.s. is a link to a commodore site where 3 half-hour videos can be downloaded.

    http://www.commodore.ca/gallery/video/video.htm

i.e. Prototypes, Gary Kildall Tribute and Low-end Computers (Gary Kildall and Jack Tramiel)

The Prototypes has footage of the ZX81 "that horrible, horrible" machine and the Commodore engineers describe how they were shown a ZX Spectrum and asked to come up with a rival.

At the time the ZX81 cost $49 and the C64 cost $595. The result was the Plus 4 and a variety of prototypes are shown.

Gary Kildall is the good guy and the footage of the time he gave his staff a rise when the Vax arrived is legendary. He had to jack his house in the air to get the Vax inside.

Well the BBC don't print everything and have always rejected my stuff (written in sensible mode).

Sir Clive was on tonight and you can see him by clicking the video link on the same page and skipping to near the end.

    "The drunken politician leaps"

The Geek Week slot is always at the end.
Click the slide bar about 5 sevenths of the way across.

Despite Kennedy's boozing fiasco, the sinclair slot still did appear on Friday's newsnight.
It was quite interesting, and a WOS poster has provided a link to tonight's segment in the "miscellaneous" forum I think.

Still, I think the ZX81 should have took priority over Kennedy, and should have been the first item on the programme.

Come to think of it, they should have had had Kennedy and the ZX81 on the same item.
Maybe even with the thermal printer oooh.

Well Daren - you made it first time.
I recognize Peter from c.s.s. too.
    Is anybody else up there?

Remember that's the guy who tells Jeremy Paxman what to do. Respect.
