Sinclair Game Compilation - P15/G

edited January 2006 in Games
This is the biggest compilation of games I've ever seen. I don't remember ever seeing this mentioned in any magazines back then. Did anyone buy it? The price must have been astronomical. :)

I'd love to see a scan of the inlay.

Bugger. I knew I meant to bid on something.

And I bet that winning bidder was Necros too.

Yep, Twas me! I actually wasn't expecting to win as I was away from the computer this afternoon. Sometimes you just get lucky right?

There's no photo of the package in the archive so I'll do one once it arrives and upload it.

Sure I have scanned that in. Might be in the pending list.

Something that would be useful if you get the time is to check the actual contents of the tapes. We have had a few copies of this title and I think there is more than one version. The instructions list some games on the tapes which don't appear in some versions. They might have had some late license issues or something.

P.S. I don't think this was on sale as an individual item. I think it was a special boxed compilation that was bundled with a machine which would explain why there were no reviews.

No problem. I'll do that once it arrives.

I noticed there was another Sinclair compilation (link here with the same title but a completely different list of games. It has no product code though.

I think that was the one that was advertised for mail-order sale in Spectrum magazines. A mate of mine got it and lent me a couple of the tapes years ago (I might still have a couple of them somewhere). They were white with "SPECTRUM GAMES COMPILATION" printed on them in black lettering.

The list on that link is very similar to what I remember, but my mate must have had one of the alternate versions that were slightly different since the version I saw had "Evil Crown" on it somewhere.

There's lots of Speccy games I recall playing briefly but can't remember the circumstances. Looking at that list, I realise most of them must have been on those compilation tapes.

    Right.

I've just finished going through every game in the compilation and there are a few differences between the one on WoS and my copy.

Games Designer (Quicksilva) listed on this site but it's not in my version. It is replaced by Magic Carpet (Mastertronic).

Other than that, it is identical to the one in the archive.
