Rescued a big monitor from work today

and attached it to my laptop.

Went round to PC World and bought a USB keyboard for ?20 and now I've got a really good set-up and much less chance of eyestrain.

Life is good.

Will put up a pic of my new set-up when I can be bothered. :)

    ?20 for a USB keyboard!!!

No surprise you got it from PC-Ripoff, sorry Wnkers, sorry World if it's that amount.

I paid ?15 from Maplins for a wireless keyboard AND mouse package just before Crimbo. At least you saved money on the monitor so it could be justified.

    ?20 for a keyboard, sheesh....

I onced pulled a BBC out of a skip. Water poured out of it.

I stripped it down, and left it to air for a week, and finished it off with a hairdryer, and put it back together, and it worked again. LOL

but yeah, nice work on the monitor, and a big D'oh! on the notage you shelled out on that keyboard.

    I pulled a Amiga 1200 out of a skip.
tried turning it on, but the ROMs were the wrong way round for some reason. in taking them out to put them right, I saw one of the pins had been BROKEN OFF!

So did you get it working or what?

Dead easy to fix that, solder a short bit of 15A fuse wire to the leg stub and re-insert the chip. I must have used this trick hundreds of times!

Sounds like somebody was trying to upgrade their Mig!

I once bought an A1200 from a car boot, 8Mb upgrade card and all for ?3 - works great!

Mrs.THX today came home with a computer desk, a monitor, a mouse, and some pretty decent PC speakers. :D

Someone had just putting them outside their house, with a "free please take it" note, and let my wife have them.

Speakers are pretty good, better than the ones I did have.

    hurrah for free stuff :D

No. I still have, though, I might get it fixed someday. Does anyone have a spare set of the appropriate ROM chip?
