Ninja - arcade version?

edited February 2006 in Games
I was just checking out some MAME roms when I came across Ninja Mission. It's basically an arcade version of Ninja and is exactly the same (idols, thugs, karatekas, weapons on the floor, jumping through roofs etc) except it doesnt crash every five minutes and now has an end of game boss (that shoots out an endless stream of shurikens).

I've got this too. It runs on an Amiga related operating system and is indeed an arcade version of Ninja! Unfortunatly, on my version of MAME32 (0.94) it runs without any sound :(

On a side note, how do you update MAME32 so that is running the current version (0.104 I think?) I've been running 0.94 for months and feel like updating it!

I remember reading about this in an article on new arcade games in an issue of Crash from (I think) 1987. It was one of several games that ran on a "multi-game" arcade machine that was based around Amiga hardware. I think it had a version of Xenon on it too.

Just download it from the Mame site but you then need a new set of roms each new version of mame needs the corresponding roms ie Mame 0.94 uses version 0.94 roms and Mame 0.104 uses 0.104 roms, if you don't update them you will find that quite a few roms no longer work!
