"Famous" relatives

edited June 2007 in Chit chat
My niece has landed the part of Amy Barlow in Coronation Street. Her first scene was broadcast tonight, immediately before the ad break, where she was sat on her Tracy's lap.

She's gonna be on again on Monday, got a few scenes in the 2 eps that night.

Let's hear your "lame to fames".

Walt Disney may (or may not) be related to me. One of his ancestors married a girl with the same surname as me who was also from the same village my father's family are from. :)

    How's that for tenuous! :)

My uncle's milkman's next door neighbour once knew someone that had met Robin Asquith. Probably.

I once saw Barbara Woodhouse in a local department store. She was being pushed about in a wheelchair because she'd lost the ability to do "walkies". :D

Whilst working a for a nasty little man in Tenterden I repaired lawnmowers belonging to Paul McCartney, Lord Sainsbury, Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. I wrote "CUNT" underneath Pauls.

The Reverend Charles Dodgson was a relative of mine - my great grandmother's maiden name was "lewis", and the other part came from a friend of his, iirc.

It's something of a family joke that he claimed they were corruptions of his real name - but then, we only have the word of my (now dead) relatives on this. It's certain he was related and visited them often.

Yep, George V. Of German descent, but born in London. A really nice man by all accounts, and responsible for the 'Regis' part of my "beloved" home-town.

According to my father, my grandmother's uncle was the coachman of king Alfonso XII (or XIII). He once found in my grandparents' house attic some documents about it.

So I could even be related to our royal family; who knows, maybe one evening the queen and my ancestor got alone in the coach while the king was hunting pheasants, one thing led to another, he took his whip, etc... Well, it wouldn't be the first time it happens in royal families.

As my girl says, that would explain why our current king is half dyslexic :D

My Grandfather's brother used to play footie for England - Eddie Hapgood.
