is that in whitby?
:p
Slightly SE of Whitby ... or SW depending on how you want to look at it ... of course you could just say it's due north (and then eventually south) if you feel so inclined.

Where's nice in London to go and get pissed?
The HCC-Sinclair is organising their annual international meeting in Stein-Urmond (Limburg) for the 6th time now (or was it the seventh time?).
Doors open from around 10.00 until 18.00 on both days, entry is free, and if you drag your stuff along, the more the better.
Adres: Van der Valk Motel Stein
Mauritslaan 65, 6129 EL Urmond
website:www.valk.com
(Stein is next to Geleen, you can't miss it from the A2-highway, the motel is the first thing you will see)
Otherwise, either the 10th of june or the 15th of september, our usual meeting in Bunnik, or later this year on the 24th, 25th and 26th of november, the HCC-days in Utrecht.
i dont like mondies, i got chucked out of there once, so i vowed never to go back, will meet you outside the regal cinema.
There's pleanty of options although I would tend to suggest somewhere that is NOT on the circle/district/hammersmith lines because they tend to be screwed on the weekends and this mistake has been made many times by the CSS meets.
There's a few nice places in Angel.
Tell me why you don't like mondies,
tell me why you don't like mondies.
tell me why you don't like
you don't like
you don't like mondies.

How old does THAT make me feel...
How does it feel,
tell me how
how does it feel...
nope, it's still WOS.
me too. :)
If I get my new Honda in time, I might make it down (or is it up to the capital wherever you come from?), but my little 200cc would struggle to make the trip.
So what ideas do we have for location? I can have a look at the BITE (beer in the evening) site for inspiration if you like?
Anyone....?
Most of the above do food, which is fairly essential if it's an early afternoon meet (as most of these things tend to be).
* Oakdale Arms
* Pembury Tavern
Neither exactly easy to get to, but damn good pubs (disclaimer: and owned by a friend of mine :-))
Checking the TFL site the only tube closures for the 27th are: Central line - West Ruislip/Ealing B'way to Marble Arch and Leytonstone to Newbury Park, and Northern line Camden Town to Kennington, west end branch.
I know the Green Man very well (I work right by Warren Street tube) - nice and big and they do good (?) food - definitely a goer so long as the tubes are running, which it appears they are. What does everyone think?
Canary Wharf always struck me as a bit pretentious - bars are generally very expensive and rather soulless. Don't know City Pride though - any good?
Punch and Judy? On a Saturday afternoon?? We won't even get in the door!!
Polar Bear - don't know it, from what you say doesn't sound that great.
Old Bank of England - I know very well (I used to work next to the Royal Courts). Big pub, good food (usually), Fullers range of beers. And being in the City it should hopefully not be too busy. Is it definitely open on a Saturday?
My brother suggested the Porterhouse in Maiden Lane, Covent Garden but the reviews on BITE (www.beerintheevening.com) are very hit and miss, plus it looks like it'll be absolutely rammed come the evening. Worth considering or not?
And talking of Green Man how about the Green Man at Bank station? It's a Wetherspoons so guraranteed to be somewhat lacking in character but it's cheap and the food's not bad. And talking of Wetherspoons there's the Hamilton Hall right by Liverpool Street station too. Both of them are absolutely huge.
Anyone have any other comments/ideas? Don't forget to check out the BITE site above. Remember we've got just under two weeks to get this organised!
Cheers all :)
I've discovered that I have a "do" the night before, but I'll try and wangle it so that I can come along. It'll prolly be a case of training it up in the morning, and getting a train back home in the evening (about 8pm at the latest, I seem to recall).
So, making the assumption that a place is decided upon (somewhere central is my preference, but I'm easy so to speak), what kinda time are we looking at?
Coming back to the Green Man at Great Portland Street, don't forget that even if that tube station IS closed, you've got Warren Street (Northern and Victoria lines) less than five minutes' walk away.
So - given it's tried tested and relatively central - who's up for the Green Man? Show of hands...? (Starglider you could always quickly knock up another vote site! :) )
