Uncle? Me?

Yup, my eldest sister gave birth to her first kid at 5ish this morning. The first of the next generation (if you don't include cousins who have got kids already)

Both are doing well :)

I'll be going up tonight to see them, maybe I'll take my camera :)

Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

    Gratz.
So, are you gonna be the dodgy uncle that bounces his nephew on his knee, and tells him about the bees and the bees?

    Major Congratz to you.

I'm an Auntie 4 times over now, hit's ya wallet at christmas! ;)
  • I'm a, well, half-uncle (my half-sister has a daughter, I'm not sure if half-uncle's the correct expression but anyway) and can I just say, it won't make any difference to your life whatsoever if you don't want it to, but if you do it can be anything and everything from fulfilling to hellish.

dodgy uncle - yes, and Sioux's definitely the half-mad dodgy aunt :D

    bees and bees - nope

I'm hoping he's got the same rogue gene in the family as me, two of my cousins and one of my uncles do. That would seriously rule!

Rogue gene being not the normal "family" type person, but one who loves the unusual, darker side of life and entertainment :)

    @AY

    Maternal half-uncle :)

It's great to be an uncle! I can't recall the number of times I've returned from office stressed and weary, and then have my little niece jump onto my lap and smooth all the worries away. Her childlike innocence and perfectly sensible things that only kids can say constantly amaze me no end. And when she puts her little arms around me and settles down to sleep, my day is made.

How I miss her now that I'm away in Bombay! sigh.

Nothing compares to having your own kids. It would be nice to be able to hand them back at the end of the day though!

Being an uncle to the six girls Amy's sisters have is nice - makes me feel old though seeing the oldest turns 16 a few days after I turn 27 and the second oldest (who is 13) is due to have a baby any day now! It is nice to give the little'uns back afterwoulds but I'm one to say I'd never trade my two girls for anything.

As I said in the message Vincent, congragts to your sister.
