Think your aiming a bit high with a 29.99 starting price.

Crash Issue 1 recently sold for just 10 pounds...

Crash Issues 1-44 didnt sell for 99 pounds starting price

Last year issue 1 used to go for about 30 quid alone but i think ebays been flooded with a few issue 1's now
  • I had the complete Crash Magazine on DVD, along with complete Your Sinclair, Sinclair User and Your Spectrum on DVD. They were selling well, but ebay pulled them after a couple of weeks. I think due to Futer Publishing owning Your Sinclair.

I'm now selling the crash DVD on my site so, if you like, take a peep.

Edit: link removed. Pirated from Mort!

Hard work, was it - scanning all those magazine pages?

You did scan them yourself, didn't you?

    Prepare yourself...

Any reason why we shouldn't be buying them from Mort! directly, who did all the hard work in putting them together in the first place?

Must say you do have the bloody cheek to come and promote your warez in here!

Possible, if Future even noticed. However, me complaining to ebay probably didn't help much.

    Next step is your ISP.

So, Mr. Ellis, I don't think blueyonder will be too happy, neither will paypal, or indeed Microsoft.

Cant stop - I got 3 emails to write. Is it still un-limited fines & 6 months in jail for software piracy?

edit 2: Not only are they Morts scans, but they are in PDF format and include several TV adverts.. Been plundering my site have we?

  • Hi. I am NOT selling any warez on my site! The Scans were collected from a site that did not mention MORT. I am happy to remove them. Could you please tell me what else on there could be classified as warez? I put this post in sales and am new to this, I wasn't deliberatley trying to spam or anything!

For the record the items I was selling were:

The Crash Magazines on DVD. OK, I accept this was a mistake.
Unattended Windows on DVD. This was a DVD I created that helped people make a silent install of the OS. I stated you would need your own genuine copy of Windows for my DVD to work!
Openoffice.org 2. This is open source and I was acting as a Community Distributer.

ISTR Mort saying Future asked him to stop selling the YS CDs - probably got on their radar by being mentioned in Retro Gamer.

Stop selling anything you didn't create yourself! You cannot make money from our hard work!
  • I'm just letting you know I have removed this from my website. I genuinely appoligise to Mort!. If he scanned them all, I didn't mean to try and rip him off.
I have to refute the warez accusation. Anyone selling warez wouldn't put their personal details on the website! I was really knocked by that comment. I'm guilty of trying to sell the Crash magazines, but not peddling warez!

I find this is often the case with ebayers. They are totally unaware of any wrong doing or the fact that others have spent countless pounds creating what they are selling, and also violating copyright in the process.
I'm only guessing that the PDF's came from Sinclair heaven. It costs me an absolute fortune to have everything thats on there - over 30gb, and yet maintain an advert free resource (when its up!). That is just a very small part of the community. Others spend a lot more in cash & time than I do.

Kudos to you for removing the disks & apologies for the rant. As you can tell, we are passionate about what we are doing.

You might want to re-word the ad for the windows installer. Without clicking 'more details' it appears to be a copy of windows for a fiver. You should also check the licenses for things such as open office that may restrict sales of cd's. Most of them state that a small fee to cover costs is OK. Anything other than that, which is profit is not allowed.

Good show on setting things right. I'm inclined to agree that you did it out of ignorance rather than any intentional harm. I withdraw my original warez accusation but I said it only because that's what it appeared like.

Yeah, he certainly responded a lot better that the last CD seller (ENERGY4UK) who got abusive when people started complaining, if I recall.

    Well done.

  • Hi, I have to say I'm grateful for all your responses. It was a mistake from me, but the responses here have been valuable and taught me a lesson! I initially set up my website to sell my Unattended Windows DVD and felt I should include more things to sell on my website. I came across the Crash magazines, something that invoked happy childhood memories in me, and thought I'd include that in my products to sell! After all, I'd downloaded it from the net so it must be in the public domain. I didn't realise that obviously someone must have put a lot of effort into creating them. Basically, all I'm saying is thanks for the understanding and thanks for removing "Some Pirate".
    Cheers.

Thanks for removing the dvd`s also, I don`t mind people downloading the mags as they are intended for all to use as a resource material, the only thing that would gall me is when people repackage my work and sell them , the money (well about ?30 a week) goes back into buying up more old mags from ebay and making more available to download on World of Spectrum, Sinclair Heaven et all, Dvd`s are available for those who want to help me with my efforts with a donation and have a nice complete set for the shelf with inlay and nice shiny new dvd case to get the mags past the significant other

    Many thanks and Regards Mort

    This isn't even remotely correct.

Assume everything on the net is owned by someone and that you do not have the right to take it and sell it on until you are told otherwise.

She has a genetic problem with her legs since birth. We can get her physio, but with the NHS being cheapskates, we have 2 pay 4 it ourselves and it is NOT cheap.
