Best burger ever

edited July 2006 in Chit chat
Here's what you need:

1 George Foreman grill
1 burger bap
2 burgers
2 cheese slices
pate
mustard
margarine

Instructions:
1. Slice and butter the bap
2. Do the burgers in the Georgie Foreman.
3. Layer the ingredients as follows:
(from bottom to top):
- bottom half of bap
- burger
- mustard
- cheese slice
- burger
- layer of pate
- top half of bap

I just made it and it was quite simply the tastiest burger I have ever munched. I would have taken a picture for you guys to salivate over, but it didn't stay on my plate long enough! :) This was even tastier than the bacon double cheeseburger they do at Burger King, my previous favourite.

Anybody else got any culinary delights to share?

    heres one from my kitchen.

make some spagethi, heat some ragu but instead of adding meatballs, add mini scotch eggs.

    mmmm, yummy!!

I love burgers ! Some pubs sell some beautiful burgers, the smaller fatter type of burger which tastes beautiful. Tescos sell some good posh ones which are beautiful

Or make your own with some mince/gherkins all mashed together and if you grill it well my god they taste good !

My local butchers do good burgers. Just about to have some now on the barby.

As Samuel L. Jackson once said: "I do love the taste of a good burger!"

What kind of pate? I think it's an important question to ask.

I love the Ross Quarter Pounder burgers you can pick up at Somerfield Supermarkets. One of those, a lightly toasted sesame seed bun, a slice of cheese.

    Lovely!

Aargh! Now I'm going to be lying awake at night wondering where the second cheese slice is supposed to go.

Here's a couple of my favourite recipes:

    Fish pie:
Good sized piece of fresh cod.
    Bisto parsley sauce granules
    Mashed potato
    Fresh parsley and corriander
    Grated cheese

Cut the fish into small pieces and lay on bottom of a large casserole dish. Mix the parsley sauce and pour over (completely covering) fish. Add the chopped parsley and corriander. Top the pie off with the mashed potato then sprinkle on grated cheese. Cook for 3/4 hour at 180'. If you like fish you will love this recipe, even my seven year old nephew who hates any fresh food stuffs his face with it when I make it. It's really simple but very tasty.

    Cheesy Potato cakes:
    Mashed potato
1 pound of cheddar cheese (use mature if you like it).

Grate the cheese and mash it into the potato. Lay out some flour on a board, grab a handful of potato/cheese mix and roll into a ball in the flour. Flatten the ball out so that it's like a triple-thick burger. Add some olive oil to a frying pan and cook both sides of the potato cake until golden brown. Eat with a side-helping of chilli sauce. This is a good recipe for when you come back from the pub as you can make the cakes beforehand and fry 'em up when you get back in.

Last night's dinner - two homemade chicken burgers. I halved the chicken breasts first - that's why there's two pieces of meat in each - and then breaded them in Panko crumbs. Also in there: Hellmans Mayo, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and curry dressing. Quite yummy. :)

    This is inspiring !

I bought a George Formby grill 15 years ago and I have never even used it yet ( I don't lie ), I might just give it a try now ! Happy go lucky me thought that I would get round to using it !

Those burgers look they turned out nice again Sokurah, I might put a picture of them in my little snapshot album !

Thanks. These are just made on a pan though - I don't have a grill...but really wish I had. ;)
Next time I'll make my own buns as these store bought are usually terrible. I might also do something different meat-wise. Perhaps lamb and bacon with a minty dressing or something. Hmm, never thought of that before. It's ON. :D

I find the Sainsbury's breakfast buns are a treat, however I have tried a number of these instant bread mix packs from various places and they are usually better that shop bought and easy to make and cheap !

  • Could do with a good and honest meat burger recipe, the top chef ones are stupid and the internet dwellers ones are equally stupid, then they both start adding tons of toppings, including showing you how to slice a tomato WOW !

I want a recipe that says something like

    Breadcrumbs
    Minced ( whatever )
    Sliced chilli
    fresh herbs
    spring onions
    Egg yolk

I think onion rings in batter would be nice with a good burger.

I don't have time to experiment with my own made up recipes and I am the only one that eats meat, perhaps I should buy a luxury burger and add my own stuff to it, they are nearly all beef ones, whatever happened to hamburgers with pork in ?

  • Funnily enough i'll be having burgers later today using my George Foreman grill. It's ones fresh made in Morrisons.
I might even post a pic, if photobucket will let me.

Not a George Formby one ?

  • I had a Carl Lewis grill. Similar to the George Foreman only faster. ;)
  • The George Formby one spits fat a little bit, but when I'm cleaning windows I regret using it !

Best burger I ever had was from the Toucan burger bar the first time I went to Zakynthos. The following year, it'd gone. Must have been one of those magic travelling burger bars.

I did like pork and chilli or pork, herb and apple burgers from the farmer's market in Southampton. Iceland used to do amazing bacon burgers lined with cheese. Supermarket budget mince is usually pork and beef if you want to make your own mixed ones.

Much as pure lean beef is nice in theory, I generally find I prefer the taste of cheap burgers loaded with onion, breadcrumbs, rusk and all sorts of additives!
