I made a drive for my +3 using the casing off a broken Atari ST external drive (complete with its own PSU), a 3.5" drive with a switchable ready/diskchange signal, and a cable I made.
It's the same problem for the Amstrad PCW too. One of mine has a 3.5" drive B, because I found another 3.5" drive with the right jumper on it.
One problem with jumpering the cable for a fake READY signal on the PCW is that you then can't use DISCKIT to format or copy disks, because it asks you to remove them and checks for it. This might be the same for the Spectrum version of CP/M+.
@8bitten, have you had any luck loading z80 snaps? my +3 just crashes everytime, I was using 48k snaps, how do you convert +3 snaps?
I have a vague recollection that this was written in the days before Z80 v2, so you'll probably need to make sure that the snapshots are converted to v1.45 before trying to use them.
ok I converted the snaps to version 1.45 (thought I'd prolly have to) some work and others don't but I am content anyway, I have two drives woo, next stop harddisks ;-)
a final question, is there a program (PC) that alows you to write dsk files to a 3.5" disk, and a program to let you drag and drop files into a disk image, both for win 9.x (&winME) ?
I just thought of another question :-) is it possible to format disks up to full 720K, for using on the +3, and if so how.

Yes, I have a MultiFormatter program that'll format disks up to 800K-odd. I should have the site up and running sometime tomorrow, so you'll be able to grab it then. There are also other similar programs available elsewhere.
For transferring programs, the multiformatter will create 720K DOS disks, and I also have a transfer program (which runs on the +3) to copy files between DOS and +3 disks.
So now we have come full circle. From a thread started because I couldn't access Mr. Lancasters website, over a lot of productive posts about how to find the necessary files and adding a drive B to your +3 to finally having the website up and running again at a new and reliable host.
