Moon Cresta tzx

edited March 2003 in Games
I still insist on playing Spectrum games on the original machine (when my 128 feels up to it), so I like playing tzx files through TAPER into the machine. However, the tzx file for Moon Cresta is an ultra fast loader - too fast in fact. The loading time is 1m 45s. The TAP file is 3m 45s, so that gives you an idea of the hyperload it's using. I tried many ways and the tzx wouldn't load in. Of course, the TAP was no problem. What I'd like to know is, was this tzx version of Moon Cresta actually released? There is no way in a million years that it could be loaded in at that speed. Does anyone remember buying it when it came out, and finding this virtually-impossible hyperload?

Yeah, I bought this one, as I recall, in its first week of release. It was a fairly standard Powerload, I think. Fast, but not ridiculously so. Maybe there's something up with the TZX.

The original was a turbo-loader which could be copied with LERM. As I recall it it was on speed 5 in the LERM-menu to load and copy it.

Nope it's 200% loading speed, there are a few other loaders like this. Some Mikrogen and Gremlin gaphics (white/black stripes) load at 191% speed.

Indeed it's the turbo version of Powerload 48 rather than the normal loading speed.

The Alternative Software re-release and System 4 Re-release uses normal speed, possibly ROM Loader even ?

Wasn't Moon Cresta on a mag cover tape, not crash?

I have not managed yet to tzx a G.G. 190% game although I haven't tried for a while.

Yeah but it also had an original release, possibly on Imagine? I also thought it was quite an old game, 1984-85 so there should be versions with a slow-ish loader somewhere. I only have the covertape version, whatever mag it was on.
