Tape Trouble

The built in tape recorder on my one-year-old +2A does not seem to be loading the games. Here are the circumstances:

I have set my volume to 0% (And I tried raising it to 10% after 30 seconds).
The +2A computer is in VERY GOOD condition.

Is it to do with the sound, the volume, the "Azimuth" head on the tape recorder, or a combination of all three?

PLEASE - Help me.

Where are you altering the volume on your +2a. I've just had a quick butchers at mine and can't see any volume control.

Going off my 48K as a rule the volume should be at about 3/4's.

As for the azimuth screw thats just for tape head alignment and should only really be turned a quarter of a turn either way and no more.

If it was me I'd have started off by cleaning the cassette deck up and taking it from there.

I'm altering the volume on my TV itself, which has poor Speccy output (Composite).

Ok, I see. Right then. Turning up the volume on the telly doesn't actually alter the data recorders volume it just makes whatever sound coming out of the datarecorder more audiable.

There is a article about the +2's tape deck in issue one of ZXF magazine which you should be able to download from this site.

    That should help ya!

This should be in the hardware forum.

Well I've checked the calendar, it isn't april or anything so I have to assume you're serious.

Altering the sound level on your TV has no effect on the tape deck whatsoever.

Sounds as though your tape head needs to be adjusted.

How is your +2A a year old? Mine is nearer 20 - ho hum. Can you not return it under warrenty :) :) :) :) :)

Sorry, I just can't believe this isn't a wind up.......
    Oh bugger!<br>

    I'll tell you.

Alpha - I purchased it from eBay for ?5, after my original +2 died.
Bravo - I've had it for one year exactly. 366 days today.

I might be guessing here, but is it at all possible that the one you got from ebay was 2nd hand?

I have several of these beasts lying around and can tell you 100% that there is no volume control on them. I dunno which knob you are twiddling but it aint volume.
