get a 360, that'll hurt Sony more and you'll be able to play Dead Rising so it's win/win.

Truly a shame. I bought quite some stuff at Lik-Sang the last few years: a Japanese GBA SP, some controllers, memory cards, DS games.

I'm completely through with Sony and with the attitude they show lately, and sincerely hope that the PS3 will be a complete and utter failure.

Could this be the turning point?

I've always had respect for Microsoft. They're not perfect, they do sometimes cock-up with regards to product, but on the whole, they do deliver products that the consumer wants.

The 360 is no exception, and at least they are priced far more reasonably than the PS3 is gonna be, have readily available stock, and to be honest, is not far different in power than the PS3.

I think the whole PS3 debacle could be the breaking point for Sony. They have made a lot of enemies recently, including the Dixons Stores Group, who have refused to stock up on any current and future Sony goods. This may not sound massive, but remember that the DSG group is the largest in Europe with many international stores all over Europe. This has got to be hurting Sony's profits.

Other companies, like LG for example, have really led the way for quality items at decent prices, and their sales have rocketed over the past couple of years.

Sony has got to change it's ways, and fast, as the sheer number of people who have switched to the 360 due to the PS3 delays have been phenomenal.

the PS3 delays are precisely what made me buy a 360. i was purely on the fence about it until then.

i really hope the PS3 fails.

Sony has definitely let success go to their heads. I bet if the PS3 flops, they'll turn into one of the best and most considerate gaming companies ever. If the PS3 succeeds, the reverse will continue to happen.

I'd always planned to get a Wii.. I had one pre-ordered in May (thanks to my sister-in-law).

This latest thing is making me lose respect in Sony. If it wasn't for the fact I can't play Final Fantasy games and Sky Odysse on any other machine, I'd sell our PS2 here and now (Emma pefers playing the Gamecube and XBox)

I heard that a Sony bloke said us UK users were lucky to have what we get because we were too dim for a lot of stuff.

Nintendo clearly learned their lesson. Although I still feel that Nintendo Europe is quite arrogant at times, their new strategy with the DS and Wii is applaudable.

Well, one of the very few games I want to get is coming out on it... plus we saw a demo of one last weekend and my other half was actually interested in it, which is amazing as he usually hates games systems.... So i guess it's got to be a Wii.... PLUS its the cheapest!

Nintendo used to be even worse than Sony. In America during the 1980s, they forced all their third party developers to sign a contract promising they wouldn't develop for rival systems. They also put pressure on US shopkeepers to only stock Nintendo consoles and games, and there's evidence they covered up a list of games which their own engineers had decided caused epilepsy.

Once Nintendo first became successful they became lazy and arrogant, but when they failed they started being creative again. Of course this is true in most companies, that's why competition is so good for consumers and monopolies are so bad.

I'm definately going for a Wii.

Rootkits bully boy tactics and DRM. sorry Sony and Microsoft can now go F**k themselves. Soon to be followed by Nokia who have allegedly developed some software to sniff out any stored MP3's even if they've been renamed etc.

If I pay for something then it's mine not no bugger elses and it's not to be altered or fiddled with or probed without my permission

That's terrible... Where will I get gamebit screwdrivers now.

First, Sony force small businesses to close in the UK (for importing PSPs), now they start attacking companies in the run-up to the PS3 and close down some more.

All the time, reducing the options for those who want something quirky and out of the mainstream.

Sony America refuses to allow 2D games in their territory (unless huge pressure is brought to bear on them by companies like Capcom) - which reduces consumer choice.

Sony Europe uses legal devices to construct an artificial trade barrier - which reduces consumer choice.

    And let's not forget Bleem...

Sony is the enemy of consumer choice and the old-style gamer.

    Bah, bah, bah...

Again, Nintendo used to be just as bad when they were the top dog in the console world (during the 1980s they fought the first court battles to stop non-approved games being released for consoles effectively bringing publishing entirely under manufacturers' control), and in some ways they're still bad (the Wii will continue to enforce region coding when running GameCube games, despite the GameCube being discontinued at the launch of the Wii).

All companies are like this to some extent, and the more games/music/video/software is pirated and distributed over the internet, the more the manufacturers are going to panic and try to lock things down. The bigger the company, the more power and incentive they'll have to lock things down.

And the more things get locked down, the more incentive there is for stuff to be pirated... and so on, around and around...
