Book on Spectrum game graphics

What Spectrum games graphics would you like to see in a book?
I've got some of the obvious ones (Head Over Heels, Batman games, Ultimate games, Wally series, etc, Gang of 5 games, Skool Daze/Back to Skool/Contact Sam Cruise) on my list but are there any that aren't so obvious that you'd recommend?

I've got an extensive 'Definite' list already (which will probaby have to be cut down), I've got a list of 'Maybes' and a list of 'Review' but I'm just curious to see what else other people suggest.

Oh, and I also plan a section on newer games graphics, you know ones developed recently (even if they have remaine unreleased). If you'd like your games graphics to feature, drop me a PM.

It will be interesting to see how you lay it all out.
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...

Oh, I'm looking forward to that myself. It's all up here *points to head*.

It will make or break the project.

    Good luck.

Yep. It's screaming that in my face.

I'm not sure how many of these you've already thought of, but here goes...

    Vector Graphics Games:
    Starion
    3D Starstrike
    Gyron

    Flip-Screen:
    Exolon
    Technician Ted
    Jet Set Willy

    3D (not Isometric):
    Avalon
    Dragontorc
    Astroclone

Finally, you should include Mindfighter, because of the excellent digitised photographs in the 128K version. They're really impressive.

    Necros.

    I'd pick the following:

Lightforce - almost a textbook example on avoiding colour clash.
Lords Of Midnight - innovative landscaping techniques.
    Psytron - detailed bitmapped backgrounds.
Stop The Express - great use of colour and cute characters.
    Tau Ceti - realtime shading.
The Sentinel - gloriously rendered solid 3D.

I can't decide on Bionic Commando.

It's a bit ugly, isn't it? Not sure myself whether or not to include it in the 1988 documentary chapter.

Didn't spot anyone mention Rex yet. The general graphics are nice, but it's the animation that really stands out. The things they can do in a 16x16 block of pixels.
  • edited January 2007
Spook fact: The first adverts for Bionic Commando called it Bionic Commandos (plural) due to the arcade original being a simultaneous two-player game. The name was soon changed when it became clear that the 8-bit version could only handle one player at a time.

You must put Lightforce in there. The graphics on the Jungle Planet section are the most amazing I've seen on the Speccy in terms of colour.
Uridium has a great pixellated look as well, even though it's mono. Airwolf has wonderful big graphics. TLL had a distinctive style, and should be considered too.

Uridium looked great: when in motion.

LightForce... meh... really one of those "technically-great-but-not-really-much-to-look-at-in-stills" games.
  • edited January 2007
Oh, Rex was one of the first games I put on the definite list.
Uridium is on there as is Lightforce, although I prefer the Shockway Rider graphics..
I'm going to leave Bionic Commando out for the time being.
