I received mine this morning - many thanks for all the time and effort you put into the production of the book Andrew - the layout is absolutely fantastic and I shall spend many happy hours reliving my Speccy memories.
The book was a bit smaller than I expected for some odd reason - although it makes sense that it is the same size as a rubber key Speccy! It probably just looks bigger when photographed or something. :)
Also, it didn't occur to me that you were in the USA so the Overseas Priority Mail envelope was also a surprise. Unfortunately the top left corner of the book got a bit dented during the trip but I can probably fix that by leaving something heavy on it for a while.

I'm sure all will be packed the same and packed well, if you have a heavy handed person in a depot or delivering it you cant really do much
I bubble wrap the books and pack 'em in the (fairly stiff) cardboard envelopes provided by the post office... it appears they employ neanderthal handlers though :(
These links won't open in Adobe Reader, have you got working ones?
There's too many pages to check the whole of this thread to see if you corrected it.

Hi all, received mine today - the US postal service stuff on the envelope had me confused as well, it's good to see the Speccy is still loved globally.
Andrew, I've decided to register with WOS after many, many years of visiting the site to congratulate you on a fantastic job. Waves of nostalgia with every page, I'm even trying out new games that I've somehow managed to miss over the years.
I've got a few mates with whom I used to sit huddled around the small TV, totally engrossed in the Speccy and I shall be forcing your book on them when I see them next.
I hope you're taking a well earned rest now (although rumours of Vol 2 are still echoing around the forums...), but well done, it is a fantastically enjoyable read, the design in perfect (It even LOOKS like a Speccy, genius), top darts Andrew.
Please also sign mine in nice black ink (for example so its good for scanning) and also leave your bank details by the signature also. Date of birth would be useful also
*sigh* I wish I knew what you were all talking about. I must be getting the limited edition white one. It does mean I will have to wait until one million books have been sold :(
Thanks Andrew, my copy arrived today. The finished product is really excellent, thank you for all your hard work. And for putting up with the nit-picks from us pedants :)

Me too too!!!! Mined arrived this morning only 4 days to get to Ireland from the US. Not too shabby at all.
I read about the little postmark thingy on your address label. I think I'll be using it as a bookmark in your book.
First reactions, I'm just amazed at the quality of the book, I've seen all your .pdfs previews etc., but they just don't do it justice until you hold the book in your hands. I'm just Amazed at the quality of the book.
Right so what have I lined up for the rest of the afternoon. Oh yeah, take 'ZX Spectrum Book' into lounge, sit in comfy chair, armed with GP2x, load up Spectrum Emulator, insert SD card full of speccy roms and Enjoy!!!! Heaven....Died...and gone to :-P;):-P
Best wishes,
Chris
BTW you forgot to sign my copy.....I might just have to order an another one :D
The [censored] Book 1982-199x... erm... well it wasn't my idea!
This is interesting. So are you having much to do with this ? Are you helping out the other person at all with the layout etc ? Will it be similar to yours but obviously a C64 computer on the front ?
Would LOVE a series of books like the Speccy one, eg one for the SNES, Gameboy, Amstrad etc etc.
You mention the 'Golden years' series. Sounds great, what are your plans ?!

All in all, superb stuff - WELL DONE!

David, could you sign it for me please?? That'd be great if you could.
Cheers, Lee
His names 'Andrew' as in Andrew Rollings.
But then if you pay him enough he'll be anybody you want...
I'll see if I can find someone called David to sign it for you...
Thanks
Andrew
Is the price/postage the same for shipments to NYC? I'd be using an American credit card etc.
Sorry Andrew, I was at work e-mailing someone called David at the same time. So he probably got a mail to Andrew. :-)
Cheers
So, that's a 'no' :) unless you want to come and pick it up personally :P
Andrew
So, the prices/postage are in GBP - no problem using a US credit card?
Alabammy
Been looking forward to getting hold of this since reading about it in Retro Gamer.
Well done Andrew!
(my boss even mistook it for an actual speccy... must put a real one on the desk tomorrow!)
