AVI to DVD
I've got a 700 MB AVI file that I want to put on DVD to watch on my TV what's the quickest easiest and cheapest (i.e free) program that will do it
I've got Sonic MY DVD pre-installed on my PC but that took forever to process the six episodes of the YS Docu plus the 700 MB take up nearly 7 GB when I import the video so it won't fit on a DVD anyway
thanks in advance

if i remember you can cahnge the settings to make the file smaller ie to fit the media, although it would certainly drop the quality. never had a file that big tho.
just out of blind noseyness, what is it your wanting to watch?
but a 60 year old boxer features
i don't really know about any free progs on the net, if you can't find any, you may wish to buy, like i did. :)
got some excellent guides and links to free software
Never had a problem with it.
Bit too basic and naff, but it does the job.
Takes me about 2 hours to convert a 2 hour dvd, depending on the format though.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

I had several avi's which i converted from video, wanted to put them onto dvd. Used nero to load the video files up, burn the dvd, look great but ouch, after a while the lip syncing is badly out.
I discovered i had to convert any avis to mpeg1's. Once i did that and then did the same procedure, eg add video files/add a menu the sync was perfect.
It worth trying (assuming you haven't done so already) just burning the AVI to cd / DVD in iso format nad seeing if your dvd player recognises them.
You'd be surprised how many do, especially the cheap ones.
one button click AVI to DVD and it's free
Tried it a while back, was getting a load of audio sync problems.
Get it here .... http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html
After that, use Nero of some other burning software to create a DVD video disc with the MPEG2 file. Failing that, you could try this free software - DVD Styler ... http://www.dvdstyler.de/ to create a DVD video.
Funny thing. I'm using the same above tools just now for my first DVD movie burn. Should have checked this thread first and saved myself some googling!

I got a Phillips one (cant remember the model) but they sell them at wallyworld here for $38 or something silly like that...well worth the money if you 'get' alot of those movies.
I've got one of those Yamada DivX / Xvid things from Amazon for abour ?30 - damned good it is too. It's amazing how much time you save not having to encode stuff to DVD.
