Speccy in my office!

edited February 2007 in Sinclair Miscellaneous
I set up a friends speccy in the office. Loaded up commando and watched as
people started gathering around. The speccy can still draw a crowd!

Hehe :) gather up yer woekmates and fire up Sam Fox Strip Poker :P

Reminds me, last year we were at a classmate's house overnight and I brought my speccy. We played 3D Deathchase almost all night, my classmates couldn't get enough of it :D

I did the same with my ZX-PC Interface

It was a big hit at the office! Commando was by far the most played game (mainly b'cos I couldn't get Dan Dare or Jailbreak to load!).

And here's the thing: Nobody, NOBODY ever mentioned colour clash at anytime!

They were just too busy dodging bullets, spraying gunfire and generally running around like mad. We even had a 2 player session with one controlling the commando and the other doing the firing and grenades. Just like old times!

Tomorrow, I take *my* precious rubber keyed speccy to office along with The Hobbit, Knight Tyme, Tau Ceti and Batman. Should be a blast!

A few years ago, we set up a gaming league at work, playing 1942 and River Raid. Again, no complaints about the age or capabilities of the hardware. Just great fun!

Game play has always been most important.

A friend of mine who's a teacher recently took my +2 into school to show the children what home computers used to be like, ten years before they were born. At first they couldn't understand where the monitor was (the idea of plugging a computer into a TV was too strange for them), and then they laughed at the concept of games on tapes - tapes being a bit of a strange concept in themselves, but when Jetpac was loaded up the "half-life" generation of children just couldn't get enought of it, and had to be rationed to 2 minutes each!!

Nobody mentioned colour-clash, or low-res graphics, or simplistic 2D gameplay, they just loved it - plain and simple.

i showed a friend at work my PSP playing River Raid on the spectrum emulator... he was fascinated...

i made a bit of a fool of myself though because i binned the plane into the bridge...

It's like it says in "Hey Hey 16K" - today's flashy games just can't beat the thrill of getting through JetPac :-)

Give them a game of 'Confuzion' if you want to see hours of addicted frustration (well, it worked for me anyway!)

I was talking to one of the guys at work and he said he had a load of stuff in his loft etc etc, sort of thing you hear all the time. He got his arse in gear and did me list of the speccy stuff which resulted in two previously unknown chalksoft educational games.

Good return for a coffee machine conversation.

It's nice to read about how addictive these old games still are. I prefer old games, where I don't have to "buy weapons for 5000".

I'm proud to say that the only games I have ever played on this PC that I'm typing on now, is old Speccy-games which I ran on Spectaculator.

I also have an Amiga. The last game I played on it was "Asteroids".

    Nothing beats the old stuff.

I like playing BF1942 Desert Combat. But I haven't racked up as many hours on i than I have on Boulderdash or Arnhem or Wet Set Jelly or Ant Attack or Zombie Zombie.

Come to think of it I can actually fly the helicopter in ZZ which is more than can be said for my chopper piloting in BF942.

Mind you I think Q2 CTF may come in as beating some of the speccy stuff.

Just picked up a Playstation (original) want to play Wipeout again. Best soundtrack for a game I can remember.

Can't imagine taking a Speccy on site. People would just stare.

Hmmm, an interesting thread idea. Post photo of your speccy (and you I guess) in strange/different places/countries.

In the shed photos are banned upfront.

Edit: and for mel the bell..not those interesting/strange places.

There was a documentary last year/year before? And she (the manager) looked rough. Whereas Sam just didn't look too bright.
