Registering my own domain name.

Who is good and who is reliable and cheap. I need to register a new domain name this week and need some advice.

Kind Regards.

I use www.ukreg.com for my domains. Pretty cheap, and you can configure your domains via their control panel, eg the DNS servers.

I have used ukreg.com for many years now, and haven't had a single problem with them.

Macdomains is quite a good place to register through.
They do good prices (I have a bundle of .com/.net/.org domains through them, about as cheap as I'd get elsewhere, if not cheaper). They also have a good control panel allowing you to specify email redirects, web redirects, full control of NS, etc.

In fact, I transferred all of my domains to them from UKReg, as I had numerous problems with UKReg.

    But that's just me :)

Edit after seeing THX' post. UKReg for me were fine at first, but I had no end of trouble with a couple of my domains... that may just be a problem I had tho', but it convinced me to move away.
Also I found that the cost of a single .com domain @ macdomains was (at the time) the same as a bulk purchase from UKReg.

I remember an old ISP I used when using dial-up called Freenetname. They gave you the chance of your own domain name AND they paid for it as long as you remained a member and kept using it for more than 60 days. Sadly, I don't have it now but just as well - I don't have time to run a website these days.

Another vote for 123-reg here, and another one against UK2 (when I last used them about 4-5 years back, they didn't give full control over DNS as standard, and charged something stupid like 80 quid for moving away from them)
