Ant Attack encapulates every ounce of the Spectrum's character and capabilities, so thats the one Im going with. Monocrome, but detailed and very atmospheric.

exactly! BUT - i'm always enthusiastic about it sveral first minutes or tens of seconds before i actually try to play the game, as i find the gameplay itself so disappointing... how do you feel about it?

I think the atmosphere is part of the gameplay, so if you try and 'get in the game' I believe you'll get more from it. I dont just see it as a, Find-the-girl/boy-and-get-out-of-the-city affair, its spending time in Antescher, watching the creatures crawling around from your vantage upon a ruin. Being chased by ants, losing your girl/boy in the throng of insects and being nearly bitten to death are what its all about. THATS the Spectrum! :)

Good call. I love to dive into this game and complete it in 3 minutes 10 seconds!

The ONE game has to be Jet Set Willy. Although ManicMiner is a superior game, Jet Set Willy was so mysterious and exciting when I was a child (remember the first time you discovered The Forgotten Abbey? Or waited around until the clock struck midnight in the hope that something magic would happen? It was simply an incredible game. Everything about it was great, the intro-music, the in-game music, the monsters, the quirky room-names.

Obviously there are loads more games I could comment on but I think we're being told off for doing that!

For me it has to be Skool Daze... there's something so uniquely Spectrumy about it :)
