UK (And US) Charts, Still Disgraceful
Really now.
UK
1. Sugarbabes vs. Girls Aloud "Walk This Way" (who?)
2. Gwen Stefani (featuring Akon) "The Sweet Escape" (please, can No Doubt reunite? please? oh wait no. They've been dreadful since they removed all traces of ska around "Return of Saturn")
3. The Proclaimers/B. Potter/A. Pipkin "(I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles" (Gah! That again)
4. Take That "Shine" (most Americans only know them for "Back For Good" which hit the lower reaches of the top 40)
5. The Fray "How To Save A Life" (Britian, meet America's answer to Coldplay, a boring band that people somehow like)
6. The Kaiser Cheifs "Ruby" (yay! a good song!)
7. Mika "Grace Kelly" (who?)
8. Justin Timberlike "What Goes Around..." (awful song)
9. Camille Jones & Fedde Le Grand "The Creeps" (who?)
10. Calvis Harris "Acceptable In The 80's" (who?)
US
1. Fergie (featuring Ludacris) "Glamorous" (another absolutely simple song by Fergie)
2. MiMS "This Is Why I'm Hot" (which is THE most boneheaded song you will ever EVER hear)
3. Akon "Don't Matter" (apparently us Americans love Hip Hop, huh?)
4. Gwen Stefani (featuring Akon) "The Sweet Escape" (see above)
5. Gym Class Heroes (featuring Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy) "Cupid's Chokehold" (It's a mix of emo and hip-hop, which should be awful, but it isn't)
6. Fall Out Boy "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race" (...to the local Wal-Mart to buy our CD!)
7. Daughtry "It's Not Over" (a bad Nickelback ripoff)
8. Justin Timberlake "What Goes Around..." (see above)
9. Avril Lavinge "Girlfreind" (oh god.)
10. Nelly Furtado "Say It Right" (lame)

I can honestly say that today's music is completelly not for me...and most Indy(that supposedly it's where music industry "sent me" is way to indy and unlistenable also...)
I Just miss the time when people with isntruments made a band I guess
Hopefully most of the muppets who buy some of that chart stuff will be embarassed in the future. Saying that theres a fair few people here with stupid ringtones who dont help matters by purchasing crazy frog ringtones etc !
Sugarbabes are a crap 3 piece with only 1 original member, all are ugly. Girls Aloud are a shit girl band with 1 girl who can sing, they do have a member from my home city in the line up. When Cheryl Tweedy isn't singing she's doing what every Geordie does for Newcastle making us all look like thick bastards. One of my friends kicked her older brother Alan within' an inch of his life once cos' he stole his bike.
2. Gwen Stefani (featuring Akon) "The Sweet Escape" (please, can No Doubt reunite? please? oh wait no. They've been dreadful since they removed all traces of ska around "Return of Saturn")

How Very sad indeed.
4. Take That "Shine" (most Americans only know them for "Back For Good" which hit the lower reaches of the top 40)
They've got another tune out since their reunion? Oh Dear.
5. The Fray "How To Save A Life" (Britian, meet America's answer to Coldplay, a boring band that people somehow like)
In the 3 months I've lived in the USA, I have learned to hate this band with a passion. The wife likes them, but then again she also loves coldplay.......oh dear.
6. The Kaiser Cheifs "Ruby" (yay! a good song!)
7. Mika "Grace Kelly" (who?)
Who indeed?
8. Justin Timberlike "What Goes Around..." (awful song)
Yes it is an awful song
9. Camille Jones & Fedde Le Grand "The Creeps" (who?)
10. Calvis Harris "Acceptable In The 80's" (who?)
US
1. Fergie (featuring Ludacris) "Glamorous" (another absolutely simple song by Fergie)
I wish she would go away she is not the sex goddess she thinks she is, she's almost perfect from the neck down. But that face URGH!!!
2. MiMS "This Is Why I'm Hot" (which is THE most boneheaded song you will ever EVER hear)
From the sound of it I'm glad I haven't yet.
3. Akon "Don't Matter" (apparently us Americans love Hip Hop, huh?)
I'd call Akon shite, and a million miles from hip-hop, and it really gets on my nerves when clueless radio DJs call him a rapper. He is a singer and a bad one at that.
Don't Wal-Mart cut the swears out of their CD's?
7. Daughtry "It's Not Over" (a bad Nickelback ripoff)
I've learned to hate this crap since I've been in the states too.
8. Justin Timberlake "What Goes Around..." (see above)
9. Avril Lavinge "Girlfreind" (oh god.)
Has this anorexic hoser not died of a mascara overdose yet?
10. Nelly Furtado "Say It Right" (lame)
A perfect excuse to lay the boot in a bit, I say the whole chart no matter which country they are from are crap anyway. There's only ever a fingerfull of decent tunes if that.
The charts are based on what records sell the most, well we must have 2 nations full of brainless robots........Oh hang on we have.
I take it you're referring to John Williams the classical guitarist, not John Williams the movie "composer" who made his living (and reputation) from Maurice Jarre rip-offs! :(
(And then when that wore thin, for Jurassic Park he gave us all some Jurassic Bach...)
misteaksmistrakesmisyaleserrurs— oh, sod it.These are the only songs that would get played in our home and that's because Emma loves the groups (or solo singers) in question.
He's kind a what you get if you cross the voices of Freddy Murcury with the BeeGee's and Elton John.
His musical styles are a bit 'Elton John's Yellow Brick Road'ish. He sounds a little bit like the sissor sisters.
Very camp and upbeat pop. The wife likes him, I can take it or leave it.
Yeah, she's my 8 year old daughter.
IT was bad enough when she listened to Billie Piper as a baby (the only music which would stop her crying!)
Take That (no matter how rubbish they are) only had ONE top 100 single in the US, "Back For Good", which hit #7
The Flaming Lips, one of the greatest bands of all time, has only had one Top 100 charter in the US, with the novelty song "She Don't Use Jelly" (which hit #55)
Apparently, the UK is a "safe haven" for rock music, instead of the watered down emo, hip hop and Coldplay facsimiles that we've been forced on here in the states in the past decade.
Just bought these online to catch up a little:
Bowling for Soup / 1985
Bryan Adams / When You`re Gone (Featuring Melanie C)
Christina Aguilera / Ain`t No Other Man
Christina Aguilera / Candyman (her new stuff really intrigues me)
John Otway / Bunsen Burner (very addictive)
Mavericks / Dance The Night Away
Mika / Grace Kelly
Sophie B. Hawkins / Right Beside You
Fountains of Wayne / Stacy`s Mom
Cyndi Lauper / Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Ocean Colour Scene / The Day We Caught The Train
Paolo Nutini / New Shoes (unbelievably cool)
Ricky Martin / Livin` La Vida Loca
Scissor Sisters / Filthy , Gorgeous
Scissor Sisters / Laura
Scissor Sisters / Mary
Scissor Sisters / I Don`t Feel Like Dancin`
Scissor Sisters / She`s My Man
Sugababes / In The Middle
Sugababes / Round Round
Sugababes / Red Dress
Sugababes / Freak Like Me
Toploader / Dancing In The Moonlight
Although looking back at that list, there's a reasonable argument to say that I might be a little bit gay...
So u'd call my daughter gay for liking this lot?
Err no - I was just speaking for myself...
'ere, are you calling my pint a poof?
Nick, you're obviously a bit of a Mika
Some dire dire songs there, i know we all have different taste but theres some terrible ones !
Some very very very camp songs there and i dont just mean the Scissor Sisters. Never known a bloke with such taste as Sugababes, Bryan Adams/Mel C etc ! Sorry to criticise your taste in music but i dont know one bloke in their 20's or 30's who likes that sort of stuff, perhaps if your 15 years old ?
(says psj who now goes back to putting YMCA on ;) (joke)
Yes there is. But I've seen the size of you and will avoid saying that in your presence and continue saying it behind your back.
It gets better. Songs I put on when I want something up-tempo:
Village People / YMCA
Kylie / Can't Get You Outta My Head
Britney / Toxic
Sugababes / Push The Button
(edit: How could I forget: Weather Sisters / It's Raining Men)
But all that is counter-balanced by:
Robert Palmer / Simply Irresistable
Duran Duran / Hungry Like The Wolf
Rolling Stones vs NERD / Sympathy For The Devil
Bachman Turner Overdrive / Taking Care Of Business (go see "A Knight's Tale" - fantastic movie)
I'm never ashamed to admit to the sort of music I listen to, even though my tastes vary from cheesey 80s through to funk through to jazz (passing through latin jazz) and on to classical and chill-out.
And if you ever want to go out dancing, *never* go out with just straight blokes as they're not usually built for that sort of thing...
My mistake - I take things the wrong way at times.
Hey, the first concert i ever went to was a Toto tribute band called "Africa" awful. awful.
Compare to the last concert i went to: Sonic Youth (free tix courtesy of job @ record store)
