Competition Pro Joystick

edited April 2007 in Hardware
Just as an aside, would there be much interest in a new production run of competition pro joysticks - cost around ?13 plus post and packing?

See http://www.rwapsoftware.co.uk/images/b16273_competition-pro.jpg for a sample one which has been produced and is on offer.

    Possibly.

    Microswitched or spongy?

What do the buttons do? Don't say fire.

    Kempston, sinclair?

Will it last til I die (of old age)?

Is this for the speccy or the PC

?13 is a bit steep, bought my USB one for ?8

Not sure if it is microswitches (checking) - it is for the Spectrum (not the PC) - USB joysticks tend to be cheaper as they are of course produced in much larger quantities !!

It is very similar to a Kempston joystick - but no, it does not operate as a Kempston or a Sinclair joystick - that depends on the interface surely?

I think they mean "Is it an Atari standard wired plug at the end of the wire. As long as it is, then yeak, it'll fit into a Kempston interface (and any other for that matter).

Is it a conversion from the USB model?
    Oh bugger!<br>

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a C64DTV for a fiver, rip out and throw away the commode bits and wire a 9-pin D-plug to it?

    Isn't that actually what you've done? ;)

The NTSC one was 3.99 in Home Bargains

If it could do both USB and 9pin din then I would definately buy more than one and wouldn't mind paying ?20 for it

Now that could be an option - not certain how difficult it would be to provide both USB and 9 pin DIN on the same joystick - I shall have to get back to the designers.

It is based on the original Kempston Competition Pro joystick and supports the same fire keys as that did - can someone remind us all what the Kempston Competition Pro joystick supported?

Well I now have a few of these joysticks in stock - they are wired with an Atari 9 pin DIN plug, and do appear to be the same as the USB version. The company will not produce one with both connectors as they could not do so at a viable price alas.
