Anyone else having problems with www.worldofspectrum.org?

Is anyone else having trouble accessing www.worldofspectrum.org?

I can reach worldofspectrum.org (without the www) OK but I can't get to the www version.

I was going to say something about the forum members but it was real harsh so I stopped myself.

    :D

Nope, no problems. Well bit slow sometimes. The forum or the forum members, not sure which.

I've been having some random weirdness for a while... where the forums don't respond for a few seconds then it all starts working fine again :-? Sorry I can't be more specific.

    Jon.

Sometimes a little slow, but that'll be down to my BT home hub thingy. Apart from that, no problems.
    Oh bugger!<br>

Forums are a bit sluggish at times.

    I'm afraid that's correct.
While every 4 hours a full backup is made causing the forum to hold for about half a minute, the hardware itself is slowly getting too retro for this amount of visitors
WoS still runs on a 1GHz Celeron (stripped Pentium 3) CPU, which could use an upgrade by now - it's served us for over 5 years (!) already...
No promises on when, though (could be another year, theoretically).

Dunno if the motherboard you have supports it but I have a 2.4 celeron sitting gathering dust. If you can use it to upgrade pm me and Ill mail it to you.

EDIT: Socket 478 btw, have some 512mb ddrs too somewhere.

Once again I am overwhlemed by some peoples generosity.

To complete my retro experience I always wanted a Porsche 911.

I had (and still have) problems with one of the more unsavoury underworlde members of WOS once, never with WOS itself though!

Thank you very much for the kind offer!
However, I'll need to replace the lot, including motherboard. As I said, the box is over 5 years old (bought in November 2001 as WoS's 6th birthday present), and the root disk even 8.

Getting new high quality hardware is the easy part, the time to actually do the upgrade is more of a problem at the moment...
