Help needed with cheats/pokes etc!!!

Hi there,
I am very new to this emulator world and have been using Speculator for about a week or so now which is excellent. I have no problems with playing games etc but I am having major difficulties with implementing the pokes for certain games.

I am currently getting back into Head over Heels (1987 or all over again, bliss) but it is tough, I could therefore do with a cheat for infinite lives. I have since found a Multitap poke of 42198,24 for this game but how do I go about using this? On speculator there is an option for entering pokes but it doesn't seem to work when typing the first number in address and the 2nd number in value?

I also have a typed poke which I started to type in using basic but when it comes to entering a "to" between numbers on a "for" entry I am unable to find "to" on the keyboard...any ideas?

Glad to see the speccy interest is still alive and kicking!!!

    Cheers for the replies.

    I have looked at this page on WOS and I still can't suss it. Bit thick you see!!!!

    So if I go into the poke memory option of Speculator and type 42198 in the Address and 24 in the Value what do I have to do then? Is there a specific point prior to loading the game, or do I have to load the game first??

    Questions, questions, sorry!!

    Hi mate,

    I was expecting them to go down but they just go down to zero and the game ends. I'm obviously doing something wrong with the poke entry?

    Any ideas?

    Sorry I have been spelling it wrong, spectaculator is the one I am using. It is great but I just can't get these damn pokes to work!!!

    Will keep trying, any idea how to get Read on the keyboard through PC? It's something and "A" I guess but don't know what?

    i think i had problems entering pokes in the speculator, could have been H o H as it was one of the first i went back to play, i solved it by using a different emu. :o

    Sussed it, although I'm now not sure what poke I typed in and at what stage? Nothing seemed to happen when I entered it at the menu so left it to the first screen with Head and then entered it.

    Whichever way I did it I know have infinite lives. There don't count down though, they stay on the same number so after getting the rabbit on the 1st screen Head has 10 and they don't go down!! RESULT.

    Thanks for your input guys...now back to playing....:lol:
