Hydrofool has just been submitted by xmikex and Jamie Angus.

By the way, anyone who signed up for the new games mailing list on the old site - the new mailing service should be ready soon.

I must say that the RZX site has been excellent lately, especially with some of my favourite games like Sweevo's World, Bobby Bearing and now Hydrofool!

    Much appreciated.

I'd really like to see Heartland to see the graphics on the higher levels

I have a RZX of this, but never got round to making a video of it, even though it's denied.

It doesn't seem to be actually completable; from the blurb submitted with the RZX:

"Recorded up until you shoot the last dark page, then the game ends and says you have failed. This bug prevents proper completion of the game."

I think it's still worth adding though to the Speccy Walkthrough Videos page. I may add it this weekend.

Heartland is indeed yet another example of a game that can't be completed due to a bug. Mr Anonymous posted a fix for it some time ago on the hallowed "games that can't be completed due to bugs" thread but it involved inputting a whole lot of gubbins into an assembler and I was totally out of my depth. Ho hum. Nice looking game though, as I recall.

This week, should all go well.

Within 48 hours, should all go *very* well.

    (Yep, my fault...)

Looking at it again, it can be fixed thus> Poke 24141,13: Poke 24142,92.

    Cool, nice one Mr A.

Jamie - do you still have the open RZX to try and complete Heartland? If not, do you want to try again, and I'll get a video made?

    Cheers,

Thanks for the poke Mr Anonymous! No Daren, unfortunately we didn't keep an open RZX but we could probably just zip through the game again. Mr Anonymous, I'm presuming it would be okay to input the pokes anywhere in the game? We would ideally be doing it on the main title screen before we start to record.

Yep, that's fine. It's a bit of a pooper ending though so be warned.

Well we did it but then discovered that the RZX corrupted on the title screen so we'll try it again tomorrow. You're right about the ending though.

Everyone who was on the old RZX Archive mailing list should have received their first plain-text email from the new mailing list server.

If not, you can resubscribe via:

I thought it was a fairly good game, Action Biker, especially for a budget title.

ATF hasn`t been done yet, thought it had.... love the game, but never ever knew what I was doing or got anywhere, absolutely brilliant and impressive game engine... love it.

    Gunship too, classic game.

Like to mention Avenger and Future Knight again, can`t belive these haven`t been done, not that I can get anywhere.

I`m still playing Bosconian `87 a lot, can now get up to level 7-8, so a bit more practice and might be able to complete it :)

Apparently, the C64 version was actually much superior to the crappy Speccy version... it almost has classic status, apparently...

Hummm, you are spending too much time on your C[ensored]64 project, me thinks!

Nice to see North and South has been completed, those side scrolling levels look amazing.

Just been thinking of Nosferatu The Vampire, had it on a D90 in the old days, and used to get all excited when the loading screen came up, and then dissapointed as (once again) couldn`t get very far/ figure out what to do. Just had a quick look at it again, and by god the music is terrible (and breaks up when your walking).

It plays back fine in Spectaculator, and also FUSE (I used the Windows port). Thanks for the error report, I've let Dunny know.

While looking for information on backpackers, I decided to resurrect this thread, Amusing to see many of my requests from 6 years ago have appeared over time, but still no Backpackers.

Does this game actually have a ending?, I tried again to do it, only to utterly fail

Horrible to learn that im terrible at playing these games now compared to what I was 30 years go.

(and on a side note, related, but slightly delayed in asking, anyone fancy doing a RZX of Rasputin - http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0004030 )

just had a go at return of things.. far tougher than halls IRC..

doing the rzx with infinite energy is allowed , initially?.. even on the low skill setting it's quite rock.. either that or I'm rubbish (more the latter I guess)

If you could record it using the rollback feature, that would be better. (Insert a rollback marker; if you get into trouble, rollback to it. It's a bit like saving snapshots.)
