 there's no way that tv is connected to the speccy - as soon as he picked up the speccy it would've reset :-P

How the Spectrum began a revolution article on the BBC. Not read it yet, don't know how shite it is :-D
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

Both of those were surprisingly good, actually. Nice to see both Martijn and Nick H quoted. Good stuff.

Front page of the BBC websites good, seems to generate a ton of traffic, hopefully be some more new users joining the forums etc.

From the Beeb article I posted:
More models with improved processor speeds, more memory and built-in disk drives were released but the machines were facing intense competition from cheaper PC clones, Japanese manufacturers, and the arrival of dedicated games consoles.

So the brown turd was no match for the speccy at all? :-P

Great to see a Speccy article with no mention of the bread bin at all. In fact, it appears as an "In pictures" link seperate to the story

    From a related Beeb story:
Most importantly, from the point of view of video game history, the ZX81 was the computer which hosted the world's first ever 3D game on a home computer -- JK Greye's 3D Monster Maze. [...]. A quick play of this game on an emulator is recommended to all fans of Doom, Quake, Unreal, Half Life and all the other FPSs which are now so popular, as it really is the literal grandaddy of them all.

    :)
I never make misteaks mistrakes misyales errurs — oh, sod it.

I'm inclined to agree. Firstly the aerial lead didn't seem to be plugged in, secondly the picture quality was far too good, and thirdly the 'TV' looked to me like a VGA monitor.

 I never noticed the aerial lead was missing.

I did notice that the tv was a monitor though, just never thought about it.

Oh yeah, is that a copy of Decathlon sitting on the shelf? The game responsible for killing thousands of membranes and joysticks :-P

It's thanks to the front page mention of the Spectrum that I am posting here.

I have been to WoS a few times before when finding emulators but did not realise it had a forum until I revisited from the BBC link.

Welcome to the forums, but don't be put off by the so-utterly-non-politically-correct way we do/say things here :-D

*waits for mel to turn up*

Politically incorrect is my middle name!

    Crap joke alert:
What is the difference between a Spectrum keyboard and a Commodore 64 user?

You only have to punch the instructions into the Spectrum once.
