Fear Of A Blank Planet
Has anyone bought it yet? I got it yesterday and it sounds really good (even though I've only listened to it once so far). It's a lot more restrained than Deadwing, although the heavy guitars are still present, especially on Anesthetize (brilliant song - probably the best on the album).
Oh yeah! There are guest appearances by Robert Fripp and Alex Lifeson.

Sorry MtB, I've not yet found the right HD with the muzak we were BSing about last weekend ... (Hole in me shoe) ... as soon as I do and get it up (no pun intended) I'll PM you.

Ehm... that would be "Fear of a Black Planet" by Public Enemy.
Cracking album though. Anesthetize is an awesome song.

The tracks played were the middle part of Anesthetize (I think... my album is still in the post so can't check), Halo, and Fear of a Blank Planet.
Sounded good. Even gf recognised the new stuff, and she'd only ever heard it live before :)
They're going to be on an upcoming Radio 6 Rock Show too... this Saturday or next. Already programmed into the Sky+ box :)
A bit annoyed that the DVD is NTSC format, which Amazon.co.uk didn't warn me about. I can still play it fine, it's just annoying.
Will have a listen later. Hmm.

I've a few criticisms of it... for example "Anesthetize" is 3 tracks rolled into one, which works for the first two - the third section I think should have been a song on it's own.
"Way Out of Here" could have done without the thrash guitar, in my opinion... it's ok, but I think it breaks the flow of the song a little? Kinda like the sweary word in Blackfield's "Some Day", which is otherwise the best track on "Blackfield 2"... but I digress.
I was a little disappointed with the DVD, half-expecting there to be something more on there other than the lyrics and credits - perhaps a video or something... but that's not a reflection on the music, just the Special Edition release. And the fact it's an NTSC dvd is annoying, but not tragically so.
Otherwise... great album. Favourite track at the moment is "Sentimental".
As far as playing it... I'm currently alternating between that, "All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone" by 'Explosions in the Sky', and I just got "Drums and Guns" by 'Low'.
