Beachhead One vs. Two

edited May 2007 in Games
Which was better in your opinion, Beach Head one or Beach Head Two?

I like one better, I loved the sinking ships part.

In BH2 do you think it was more fun playing the Dictator or the Allies?

Being the dicatator meant you got less to do in the helipcopter round, but I loved trying to squash those guys, and drop rocks on them, etc. I loved it when the red truck caught them up and blasted them!

And what is the deal with that boomerang cr*p at the end??

I couldn't understand the pointless floating mines section in Beach-head going that route offered no benefit you still had to take on the aircraft carriers

Beach Head is another iconic game of the Speccy, though I often got bored shooting the aircraft and sinking the carriers. Got more enjoyment from the sequel, even though it didn't look as good.

Never played either of those games.

Undoubtedly number 2 for me, the first game was just too boring. The Battleships bit with the planes coming in was the best of a bad bunch of mini games and that is the iconic image of the game.

Beach Head 2 had better developed sections much like the earlier Raid over Moscow (another of my favourites). There's not really a bad bunch among them although taken separately none of them are anything even approachingspecial. But taken as a whole, it works for me, although it is a bit easy (prob why I liked it).

I'm stunned ! Even if you didnt like the look of Beach Head, it was such a famous Speccy game in the early 80's you would surely have given it a go ? When US Gold arrived with Beach Head, Raid over Moscow etc i'm sure a lot of us gave these games a go ?

Beach Head 1 back in the day i liked a lot, now some of the levels are a bit dull but back then it was excellent. Beach Head 2 was alright because of the 2 player but the first level where you drop the soldiers in was boring as anything

But you took on far less than if you went the other way though

I have a fondness for Beach Head but it's largely nostalgia since I owned it (as part of They Sold A Million) back in the late '80s and it only actually loaded about 25% of the time so playing it felt like a bit of a treasured rarity. Having played it more recently, I do still quite like it except for the second-from-last stage with the tanks storming the beach which is slow and tedious.

The sequel I never really got to play until the Age Of Emulation and I seem to remember being a bit disappointed and put-off. Maybe I should give it a proper go.

Both were decent games , i prefered number 2 purely for the 2 player option and it didnt feel as repetative. But raid over moscow was better than both.

I liked Beach Head 1 better. The first stage of the sequel put me off going any further, which was maybe a bit hasty of me.

Both games are OK, but IMO "Beach Head 2" is better. I think it has superb sound effects (helicopter engine on level 1 and shooting sound on level 2).
