Added a couple of Wikipedia pages

edited May 2007 in Chit chat
Doing so does work -- sometimes. ;)

Added Knot_in_3D and "Category:Spec-Chums". Any Speccy Wikipedians, kindly show your [strike]insanity[/strike] support by adding your user page to this category! (Which might also help stop the bloody thing from getting deleted...)

Might want to mention that even though it is in 3D, the player can only move in 90degrees from self. Oh, and also that there is no colour/attribute clash!

I don't think this sort of thing belongs in wikipedia, it seems just a bit too specialised. Articles on Sinclair, the Spectrum, and some of the notable software houses would be okay but if there is a page for Knot in 3D then why not a page for Footballer Of The Year, or any other Spectrum game?

Maybe we should start a Speccypedia where these things would belong.

If you feel that way, why not add such a page? Many Speccy games (Tranz Am, Manic Miner, definitely Stonkers, etc.) already have their pages...

There's at least three categories: ZX Spectrum games, ZX Spectrum-only games and New Generation Software games...

I think that's implicit in my saying that Knot in 3D is like a 3D version of Light Cycles. Also made explicit by my link to the 16x16.org explanation of the game. :)

    Excellent idea.

Why don't we put it here: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek.cgi

Oh, yeah! That one! I've been to it a couple of times.

That part of the site could use a similar feature to the lymen64.5.kom web, where users can add their own comments on the games.

Strange as it may sound, Sinclair Infoseek already links to the various Wikipedia game entries (545 references to date), similarly to how Wikipedia often links to the relevant Spectrum entry.
    I strongly believe this is a great set-up! :D

And yes, the "Knot in 3D" reference was noted and added.

Is that where you picked up the Counterclockwise reference you've also added? :) People who are baffled by Knot in 3D can go through the Wikipedia page to the Counterclockwise authors' excellent explanation thereof...

I've put the first one on my watchlist (and made a minor edit) and joined the second one. :)

And I've just added a mention of the placing in the YS top 100, so now it Asserts The Notability Of Its Subject and is less likely to be deleted. Ah, the mysterious and yet oh-so-predictable ways of Wikipedia.

Nah, the remake has been referenced since it was written last year ;-)

Need citations for new "Controversy" section of One Man and his Droid (it's been reverted once already, I've unreverted it and added citations but the more the merrier); also, someone other than myself should create new pages (linked from that section) "Harry Price (programmer)" (should that be renamed "games programmer" to be consistent with other pages?), "Don't Say It, Spray It" and "Pirate Software" (never was a firm more aptly named;))
