NickH Thread

edited October 2007 in Infoseek database
Probably best I create my own thread...!

Inspector Hecti is listed in Infoseek as "Insector Hecti" - missing 'p'.

Question: are you bothered about missing demos? (of the sound/graphics variety)

Actually the game is Insector Hecti, as it is spelled in the archive ;)

By the way, you have a PM Nick!

    cheers

    Damned puns...

(makes a mental note to double-check with the cassette inlays in future...)

What an outrage! Talk about truth in advertising!

I was expecting to read about NickH in this thread but it has absolutely nothing to do with that infamous rascal!

I'm writing a stern letter to someone, somewhere!

Back to business - this is *definitely* a tape or disk box:

Check out the lower left hand corner ;-)

    "TWO-SIDED DISK"

BTW ... that's a Commode case/inlay ... well, it may have been the same for the Speccy but this one has a C64 label in the corner.

That pic is of the US re-release by Amazing Software/EA for the C64.. Doesn't really belong here, hehe. :) (no, it wasn't released on the Speccy in the US; almost nothing was as you already know I'm sure)

Ummm, other format scans do belong here, if there's no Spectrum equivalent.

Agreed! That's why I mentioned that the same layout may have been used for the Speccy version.

Indeed, and it's gone now (or rather, the "_2" file has been moved in its place).

Right, I'm back on the job.

I'm currently looking at "Supercar Trans Am" - YS47, page 33, got 56%. It's one of the light gun games by Codemasters.

I can't find it in the archive. I *can* see "Superbike Trans Am", but the WOS screenshot definitely shows a motorbike game, wheres the screenshot in YS is definitely a car driving game.

    Any comments?

And are you still not bothered about missing demos? (of the graphics/sound variety)

Naturally, the Infoseek database doesn't return details for QL and SAM software, but here's a "patch file" to fill in any gaps for details of YS pages for those machines, plus PD stuff (mainly demos) and the odd bit of hardware:

    http://obdwww.egyptus.co.uk/patch_for_no_wos.txt

    Format:

    Name#Publisher#YSIssue#ReviewOrPreview#PageNum

Names aren't WOS-standardized. I can't even promise that the publisher is correct - it's what YS reported it to be. Ahem.

Hope it's useful to somebody - I'm certainly going to use it, so I thought I might as well share it.

Expect a similar file for details of YS pages for software which have infoseek entries, but no YS page details stored, to come soon (but not tonight).

Feck it, sleep can wait. Here's the patch file for entries which have an Infoseek entry. Same format as before, but I've added an extra column at the front containing the WOS ID.

I've put my Sherlock hat on, and the game appears to be a modified version of American Turbo King..

The LOAD SCREEN$ has been modified, and the ingame SCREEN$ listed on WoS match the YS review screen shots.

The Multiface POKEs don't match - they're out by 31 bytes, so I assume that other slight changes have been made.

I don't know if the ingame name has been modified, as I don't know how to emulate a lightgun :-(

    Toodle-pip!
