Jesus Christ, have you seen the thread over on Retro Gamer lately? It has been hijacked by, what seem to be, boring, middle-aged, bearded, single men stuck in 1987. It is like the worlds longest and most boring documentary. Everyone else has packed up and gone home!

Hold on... Lets just check the criteria.
Boring? Yes
Middle-Aged? Feels like it
Bearded? At the moment
Single? Wife insists that I'm not
Stuck in 1987? More like 1984, but close.
Boring? Yes
Middle-Aged? I am middle aged man complete with all the attached angst
Bearded? More unshaven/scruffy
Single? No Choice - The grilfiend of the last 15 years has made it very clear she doesn't want to get married so I am safe there.
Stuck in 1987? More like 1973 when I bought my first LP - Dark Side of the Moon
Don't think Ill bother with a thread full of whippersnappers, :)
Boring? Beyond belief, and believe me, I can believe quite a bit.
Middle-Aged? More like three-quarter-aged.
Bearded? Scruffy-looking, with sideburns.
Single? And ever so lonesome* ... *sigh*
Stuck in 1987? I'm more partial to either 1986 or 1990 ... or September 2000.
Skarpo :-)
*SPIN keeps me company ... and STEEM occasionally.
So, out of tens of thousands, if not millions, of people interested in the retro scene, less than 200 people cast a vote for any of the various systems. In total. Let me say that again: TWO HUNDRED. WoS alone has about 50 times that many visitors per day, never mind the retro scene in general. :-D
I didn't vote myself (I never partake in any of those polls), but so did 99.9999% of the people. So what's the big deal again? I think the lack of participants is rather telling... one can only hope they won't hold this poll as conclusive in any way with a sample pool as unscientifically tiny as that.
I think that you will agree that the Spectrum having such a successful website AND FANBASE as the WoS has, says much more about the Spectrum vs Commodore issue than an 8-bit poll on retrogamer.
I am pretty sure that the C= does not have such a dedicated following.
Yes, I voted but my belief is that WoS and other Spectrum sites is more evidence.

I have a feeling that this poll may well be used as conclusive proof, just like all those Loreal or Garnier adverts on the telly. After all, stuff like this is what helps sell magazines.
But still it would have been nice for the speccy to win.
And I was just trying to rally more people to vote.
Can't blame me for supporting the best machine ever.

I've tried to ignore it now as its just doing my head in. Some easten european bloke who never paid for any games and has never played the Speccy has been slating it because of a single Commando screenshot ! Even other C64 fans have said he shouldnt as out of all the games Commando is a stupid one to slate.
Hes boring me to death with tons of techy crap no one really cares about , boring as anything but the other techies are getting excited. Its Retro Gamer, not retro frickin crappy demo from 25 years ago that may look great on a C64 but not any other computer.
Ha ha gotta laugh ! C64 leads by a fair bit over on the RG poll but there must have been a cut off as the polls in this months edition which just came through...

Speccy 50%
C64 37%
Amstrad 7%
BBC 4%
Lemon64 is claiming it was a fix. Obviously they did not think there was a cut off. Derrrrrr.....
Its all a bit silly and a bit of fun really, i'm sure theres threads on Lemon 64 urging people to sign up and vote just like there is this one here.
Everyones going to vote for the machine they had as a kid, i was annoyed at that hungarian bloke basically calling us all pikies as our parents couldnt afford a C64 as it was too expensive though. Idiot
Hes posting tons and tons on that thread boring the pants off most people, what annoys me is that he hasnt even tried a Speccy or any games yet seems to know for sure his machines the best. Thieving git didnt even buy any games whatsoever either.
These polls usually end up in fights and playground arguments, bit useless really the whole C64 vs Speccy battle.
I do like the C64 much more as i play a fair bit on emulators, still Speccy 100% to me but i do appreciate the C64. Being totally biased towards your machine i dont think is good though, each had its good games but obviously having that machine as a kid makes me love it tons
Ive just cast my vote! for the spectrum of corse:smile: at the time of writing we are losing the spectrum battle by one vote to the commodore 64:-x so keep voting people, it only takes 5 mins max to sign up:D

Cheers! I felt he was getting a bit embarrasing.
Vote Spectrum!
I'll see if I can turn it into a KIM-1 vs Apple-1 thread. :)

Indeed this is true, but the exact opposite can be said for those who favour the VCS. Jesus Christ this lot is Dull with a capital sodding D.
As for those who favour the Commodore 64 well what can I say other than looser or sad bastards.
However I am most dissappointed that more speccy owners haven't stood up for the machine and voted. Now the shit pile C64 is well in the lead.
And then we'll have to read in Retrogamer how yet again the c64 is the best F***ing machine in the world.
All this on our humble speccys 25th birthday
But there is still time to do something about it
So bloody well vote

Actually i'm under the impression they were more....
didnt take much detective work really
I know, I used almost the same nick names on purpose anyway.... I wanted it to look that way
The clue was in the title of this thread and in the first post ;)
