I did an Advanced Search in Infoseek for games of type Arcade:Adventure and this game popped up but then the listing has it of the correct type Adventure:Illustrated
And this one! (Text illustrated)
And this one also! (tactical combat)
Hmmm ... what's going on?
OK ... here are the steps I took, indicating only the fields I changed:
Infoseek Advanced->
Year = 1985
Type = Arcade Adventure
Show Screenshots [ticked]
The abovementioned games (along with a bunch of other ones) were listed as being Arcade Adventure but then their listing indicates something else.
I haven't look at all of them ... if I bump into this again should I list it here? (I've bumped into a [strike]few[/strike] many more now)
Mad Martha and Mad Martha 2 are listed as Arcade:Adventure but shouldn't they be listed as Text Adventure?
They do both have little arcade games hidden away within them, but as they're primarily text adventures with some location pictures then I'd suggest Adventure: Illustrated as the type.

I'll try to explain how this happens.
Internally, Infoseek uses the types I assign myself, from a rather limited set.
This is the same set you find in the advanced engine options.
Now, because the set is limited and SPOT (and now SPEX) offer a much finer grained list, I let SPOT override my type when displaying an entry - so this is not actually used, just displayed.
There are indeed a number of errors in the types I assigned. The ones you listed have been adjusted now.

PS Just a feature request. In Advanced Infoseek one can search for games with certain scores.
How about being also able to search for games which have not been given a score while searching with games of a certain score?
I did a search for 1985 Arcade Advneture games with a score higher than 5 ... but I also wanted to include games which have not been given a score.
(Or should I just stick to doing two separate searches?)
Ohhh, that's sneaky, inserting an unrelated question in a thread :lol:
Your proposal makes sense, but I'm afraid would make the interface more complex. Hence, I'd prefer to let you do 2 separate searches instead.
That said, I'm of course willing to reconsider if more people think it's a good idea.

Alright, both titles have been adjusted.
