Just had a thought, and I know it's quite quick (I've never been one to mourn for too long over the death of anyone), but shouldn't someone download everything from Speccy Spoilers before it dissapears? Would be good to keep it running in his honour.
Speccyspoilers is being dealt with. It lives on my server, and there is at least one other copy of it in existence.
Plans are being made to keep the site running, something will probably be announced shortly.
Terrible, terrible news. I was really hoping that his continued absence was just because he was on the long road to recovery and he'd be back here, ranting with the best of us, before long.
My first post in absolute yonks.... not the one I was hoping for really.
Yep, I just found out that our dear friend Jim is no longer with us. Personally I never knew him, nor did I ever share a thread with him (well at least I don't think so), but I was a regular visitor of Speccy Spoilers (in fact I think I might have crashed his server once) and I remember looking at previous posts from him and getting a right laugh from them. I may not have known him, but I sorta saw what kinda person he was and I can definatley see why he was loved by so many of us on this forum and with that I am deeply saddend that Jim has now gone. Oddly enough I last thought about Jim.... well 40 minutes ago really, while I was having dinner I visited the RZX Archive and clicked on the Spoilers page and I just thought about him, it only lasted around 6 seconds or whatever, but my thought was that he was still going and 'knacking around' as they say in my part of the world, guess that's not the case is it? No.....sadly not.
I send my deepest condolences to Jim's family and I will be praying for them tonight. He will be sorely missed by those who knew him and loved him.
You're finally free! No more pain, no more struggle, no more sickness, no more will you suffer. You are now safe in the arms of our Lord! Rest in Peace Jim. Thank you... for just being Jim.
never shared a thread with the guy personally, but was always very glad to read the 'I am not gamestage' notes - that always cheered the world up
not forgetting the speccy spoilers page - it could never spoil the fun :)
losing lives in life is not the same as on the speccy, you cannot poke it enough to win... essential is to accept the life as it goes on, including these moments - if his life was good, everything else is also good, the sad thing is - a cheerful guy and a spectrist soul is lost... RIP Jim
My thoughts are with his family. Jim will be missed - I spent many an hour turning off the beep function in mIRC when he got on one of his marathon monologues.
Very Sad News, RIP Jim and thanks for giving us all Speccy Spoilers which has been a godsend to all those of us who have not got the time or the patience to play through a game these days (albeit I sent some endings in).
I found Jim's comments really funny, often more funny than the games themselves, and started to write a game for the compo, my main motivation was reading the "review" that it was going to get from the judges. I think I'm going to reread them now. You'll be missed Jim!
i had some great chats with Jim on #speccy. he was always a very nice guy and fun to chat with. i missed him since he left... shame i never got to meet him in real life.
this is weird for me because yesterday i found out that another guy i used to chat with on IRC quite regularly, the prolific music software developer Arguru (I think he did some games stuff too... and in fact he started on the speccy), died in a car crash on Sunday night: http://www.deckadance.com http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=180754

Condolences to the family and those close to him :(
I never knew you, but just looking at some of the comments on this thread tells me you were one of the good guys.

You're right mel, it did make me smile...
A few years ago I heard of the csscgc for the first time. I had a look at the previous year compo page to see what was all that about:

Odd, you're another Spec-chum I've been missing recently...
The above at least is good news, it would be a pity if SpeccySpoilers were to go the way of the Congraturations Archive but hopefully it won't.
misteaksmistrakesmisyaleserrurs— oh, sod it.
