shame he never got it to work reliably, cause of the lack of ultra bright LEDs :)
Rather than rely in it's internal 5Mb of memory it would be nice if that fan had composite input, so you could watch TV on it or even better plug it into a Spectrum :D
Thinkgeek are always pretty massively expensive for anything. Then again, an item like this probably doesn't have a huge market, therefore small production runs, therefore, it's always going to be high priced if you're ever going to make a profit. (Call themselves ThinkGeek and it only supports Windows?)
To be honest, it wouldn't be all that hard to make something like this at home (although somewhat time consuming!) for much less money. Use a faster way of communicating (USB instead of RS232) and you wouldn't need to put 5MB of RAM on it, just keep it fed from the PC's end.
